Marino comparison

thats probably the stupidest comparison ive ever heard, chad pennington after his rotator cuff injury is a more suitable comparison with an arm like rivers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.15.153.255 (talk) 15:51, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Philip Rivers dons an eye shield, which gives him unusualy throwing power and accuracy unrivaled by enemy Drew Brees.

wtf, "magic eye shield"?

*rolls eyes*...
And his "enemy Drew Brees"? Seriously, Whisky Tango Foxtrot? --The Kevin 14:39, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

what SD fan wrote this? after all the trash talking he's done this year and his subpar performances, he's not only hated but also just not that good. there's no mention of either in this article. 71.162.83.97 (talk) 06:46, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Went ahead and changed "NCAA's second all-time leading passer" to "third all-time", as the list now goes Timmy Chang 1, Ty Detmer 2, Rivers 3.--65.80.34.15 00:59, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

2007 season

Was adding some news about his injury towards the end of the 2007 season when I noticed that there is no information about it. What happened to whoever went to all the trouble for 2006?

Anyway, remedied it for now. Greggykins (talk) 16:35, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Edit request from Nitestare, 7 May 2010

{{editsemiprotected}}

Rivers was never viewed as the best quarterback in the 2004 NFL Draft. Eli Manning was the consensus #1 pick. Rivers was viewed as the lesser of the big 3. And Pittsburgh selected 11th, not 8.

Nitestare (talk) 19:04, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. The existing article doesn't provide a source for the "best quarterback in a draft" claim, so I'll mark that as needing a citation. If you can provide a counterreference I'll add it. Thanks. Tim Pierce (talk) 19:46, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Never mind - I see that the 2004 NFL Draft article already includes a citation. I'll update the article. Done Tim Pierce (talk) 19:49, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Cleanup

I've done some substantial cleanup to the article, including removing the "College Stats & Accolades" section, which was a copyvio from the Chargers' website in the external links. The article now appears to be written in a sufficiently formal tone. Does anyone object to the maintenance tag being removed now? -Elmer Clark 07:01, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Go for it, good work. Megamanic 08:50, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
I've gone ahead and removed the notice. -Elmer Clark 06:06, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

what is the deal about the most ugly and worst quarterback sentence in the introduction? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.35.60.70 (talk) 00:58, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Reputation section??

Why does Rivers get a "reputation" section when no other QB does? It is completely biased against him, and It has no reason to be there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.38.71 (talk) 17:55, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes, the section is already flagged for WP:FAN, WP:NPOV, and WP:PEACOCK among others. Feel free to take a stab at cleaning it up. However, saying that an article does or does not have something when others are the opposite is not always meaningful (WP:OTHERSTUFF). As long as its notable, factual and neutral, what other articles have might not be the most relevant. Bagumba (talk) 23:27, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Should consider moving this into specific years in Professional Career section if not enough content here and it end up as a miscellaneous collection Bagumba (talk) 08:08, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Notable Accomplishments section

Philip Rivers#Career_bests should be replaced by sections for "NFL season leader" and "Charger records". Consider that we wouldn't want an article on say a journeyman quarterback having an indiscriminate list on all their career bests. Bagumba (talk) 21:00, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

10 game record for passing yards

NFL Record for most passing yards through first 10 games of a season - 3,251 yds (2010)

The above is currently unsourced. While you can find sources like this, this one seems accurate that he didnt do it. 3,251 was Drew Brees' record in 2008. Rivers needed 308, but he only got 233. So there's some unreliable sources out there that he broke it (or even tied it). Deleting from article.—Bagumba (talk) 07:54, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
