Prime minister?[edit]

Until the approval of the two chambers, Gentiloni (who accepted the task "con riserva", that means "conditionally") remains minister of foreign affairs of the Renzi government, and is NOT yet prime minister. The title "designated prime minister" in Italy is not official, so please refrain from putting it in the infobox, thanks. Alex2006 (talk) 15:36, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Paolo Gentiloni is a member of the Italian nobility.[edit]

Paolo Gentiloni is a member of the Italian nobility with the title of Nobile. - (119.224.80.18 (talk) 09:40, 14 December 2016 (UTC))[reply]

It is mentioned that Paolo Gentiloni WOULD be nobile, IF the Kingdom would still exist. The titles were not abolished in the Republic as a part of the name. Story62 (talk) 13:08, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Paolo Gentiloni is a freemason[edit]

In the various languages for many Italian politicians are not allowed to add data. Perhaps because there are sources that denounce it membership in the Freemasonry? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Olympia80 (talkcontribs) 09:54, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Or maybe because you can't write a proper English sentence? --87.6.58.193 (talk) 22:07, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Gentiloni portrait[edit]

Hi Checco, Autospark, Wololoo, Conte di Cavour, excuse me if I "call" you, but you are between the main active users regarding Italian politics and I would like to start with you a quite boring discussion about the photo that we should insert in the infobox, because in these months lot of users has changed it, without neither a real reason nor a discussion. So these are the "best" potraits of him, which one do you prefer?

Personally if it will not be deleted (as Conte di Cavour says) I prefer D; if this happens my favorite one will be B. -- Nick.mon (talk) 13:12, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The photo D was eliminated, so I vote for B. -- Nick.mon (talk) 15:38, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Conte di Cavour: Let's talk about it. You can't delete an image just because you don't like it. Moreover your one has a very low quality. -- Nick.mon (talk) 15:54, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In my perspective, the question is very simple: picture B is clearly the worst of the pack, because 1) the traits are distorted 2) the facial expression is terrible, Mr. Gentiloni seems to be very sleepy, probably it has been taken at the end of a conference without him noticing and the effect is somehow hilarious 3) the background is black because the picture has been taken in a theatre, so it looks like a very bad mugshot with a faked background. I tried to upload a better one but I mistakenly uploaded an official picture with a non commercial license. So I cropped a group photo taken during a visit of Mr. Gentiloni in Latvia with a background featuring the EU and Italian falgs. The resolution might be better, but it has the official character that is generally required for a portrait of a national leader. Anyway, picutres A and C are better than B and, in absence of a consensus on my picture (that by the way, I do not value that much, I am stil actively looking for a better one on the web) I will support a coalition of users towards a convergence on one of them. --Conte di Cavour (talk) 16:07, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Conte di Cavour: Thank you so much for your clear and reasonable opinions, sincerely, I didn't like to start an edit warring :) However, what you said is absolutely right, the traits are a bit distorted and he seems a bit sleepy. I voted for B (even if it's the only one except for E, that I did not upload) because has a better quality than the other ones and it was used for more than a year. Personally I don't like E, for his low resolution. Anyway let's wait for the opinions of the other users. Meanwhile, if you find on internet another portrait, it will be better for all :) -- Nick.mon (talk) 16:16, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Nick.mon: I don't want to start an edit war too, the problem is that lately in almost every article about Italy ther's like a surge of users that just keep on changing the pictures, so I'm getting a little nervous because of this. Anyway I agree with you that D is a bit low resolution, but at least is not as ugly as B and can be a good temporary solution. What about this (I just made it using a slightly larger picure of Mr. Gentiloni in Russia, so the resolution is much better)? Anyway I'm still looking around for better pictures. --Conte di Cavour (talk) 16:24, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Conte di Cavour: I think that F is one of the best photos that we have by now. I found G on Flickr, uploaded by The White House account. Unfortunately also this photo hasn't a great resolution. -- Nick.mon (talk) 16:31, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I insert also H, cropping a photo uploaded by the Kremlin. -- Nick.mon (talk) 16:41, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Nick.mon: Thank you. I had considered to crop a portrait out of the source of G too, but I gave up in the light of your probable opposition to its low resolution :) Anyway, for me G is as good as F or H, if you prefer them over F let's use one of them. --Conte di Cavour (talk) 16:46, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Conte di Cavour: Thank you, personally I prefer H, anyway I don't want to decide for all, so I suggest waiting for the opinions of the other users, if they want contribute :) -- Nick.mon (talk) 16:53, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello guys, I am not particularly interested in pictures. Btw, here is my order of preference: H, G, F, C, E, B, A. --Checco (talk) 07:54, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the pictures C and G are better than the others --Wololoo (talk) 22:00, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Expunging an election from history[edit]

There was an election in Italy over the weekend. I have attempted to mention it and some have erased the section. Changing it and improving it thus is perfectly fine. But The 2018 General election did indeed happen and refusing to acknowledge this fact is WRONG. Arglebargle79 (talk) 19:03, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Inserting the result of the election is ok, but saying that the electoral law was approved only to prevent M5S from reaching power is only pure vandalism. -- Nick.mon (talk) 19:14, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No it isn't. If you took a look at the press from over there, you would see it was EXACTLY the case.Arglebargle79 (talk) 21:53, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Checco, you are far more expert than me in Wikipedia policies, according to you, are Arglebargle79's edits a personal view, and consequently, a possible vandalism? -- Nick.mon (talk) 22:00, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
They are definitely POV. In fact, the M5S has always supported electoral systems based on PR. --Checco (talk) 22:02, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Checco. So we can absolutely mention the election results, but we cannot insert the sentences regarding the electoral law. -- Nick.mon (talk) 22:03, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So YOU do it. Remember what YOU"re doing is vandalism, not me. The press has backed me up. it's extremely important to the article. He's the friggen' President of the Council of Ministers and his job depends on election results!!!!! That he's out is important to his biography and WHY is as well...Jeez!!!!Arglebargle79 (talk) 22:10, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please... I insert information regarding the election in the section "Prime Minister of Italy". -- Nick.mon (talk) 22:12, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It needs it's own subsection. This is not the 1970s when there were twelve governments in a year. the First Republic is dead.22:20, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
