Removal of large section[edit]

I had to remove the rather disorganised season-by-season section of the article as it was beyond the resonable scope and size of the article. As all of it was obviousley copied from the German wikipedia edition, nothing is actually lost, it can be brought back but should be done so by creating separtate articles for every season. The article is quite confussing enough as it is due to the frequent modus and format changes of the Oberliga.EA210269 (talk) 07:41, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Translation[edit]

I think, a better translation for Oberliga would be major league, at least Major League Baseball is translated to Baseball-Oberliga, if it is translated (often Major League Baseball is used untranslated). --Qaywsxedc (talk) 22:40, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think, Premier League is close enough. Literally translated, it means Upper or Highest league which sounds pretty stupid. Oberligas are a common thing in German sport but best known in football and ice hockey. When you look at the football side of things, it really compares a lot with the term Premier League as it usually is the highest league in a certain region, for example, Oberliga Bayern. Major League kind of implies an independent, professional league to me, which Oberligas are not really. Professional, sometimes, independent, never. It certainly doesnt comply with Major League Baseball or Major League Soccer. Well, thats just my opinion.EA210269 (talk) 22:51, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
