"One of the lastest examples of a non-game is Nintendo's Wii Fit which allows users to do exercises and track their weight without requiring goal-oriented gameplay." That's not true, Wii Fit actually makes you SET a weight goal, and you're supposed to work towards it. It also rewards you by unlocking things the more you work out. "The simulation game SimCity was called a software toy by its creator Will Wright": The citation in support of this claim uses the term "software toy" to describe SimCity, but doesn't actually attribute it to Wright. Genres of Non-games[edit]

I think more discussion is needed of why certain genres can be classified as non-games. From the introduction we have,

"Some genres that have been considered non-games include language-learning software, digital tabletop games, puzzle games, simulation games, and art games",

but for example puzzle games have the very explicit extrinsic objective of completing puzzles, which seems to be a very traditional type of game. GreenJonan (talk) 15:44, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
