POV

This page was wall-to-wall POV, like someone's review of one of their favourite albums. I've extracted all the POV stuff without changing it around too much. MrBronson 02:31, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Graham Nash on backing vocals?

I've removed a credit for Graham Nash on backing vocals for this album, as Nash is not credited anywhere else with have participated in the recording. I'd be curious to hear if anyone has any evidence that he did. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mabewa (talkcontribs) 04:24, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Personnel

I hear no acoustic guitar (or any second guitar) on "I Knew I'd Want You." If Jerry Cole played on it maybe he was mixed out? Does anyone hear acoustic guitar on this song, and does anyone know where Jerry Cole's playing acoustic guitar is documented? I do hear him on "Mr. Tambourine Man," and I do hear the other three studio pros on both songs.

I think there is acoustic guitar on the left hand channel of the stereo version of the song, although it's much more noticeable on the raw session tapes found on the Journals bootleg (although it's on the right hand channel there). However, unless we can find a source that specifically states that Cole is playing acoustic guitar, I think it should just be changed to "guitar". Cole definitely plays guitar on "I Knew I'd Want You" though, as stated by Rogan. I don't mind doing this if you agree. I must've gotten confused and just assumed that it was mentioned in the Hjort book but from your comments, I'm guessing not. Kohoutek1138 14:14, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Actually per Hjort two outside guitarists, Bill Pittman and Jerry Cole, are brought in for the session. Hjort claims Leon Russell's electric piano is mixed out of "Mr. Tambourine Man" and the "supporting guitarists are barely audible." I personally do hear the electric piano, though it is low in the mix, and I hear only one supporting guitar (doing those great paired strums every few seconds). I suppose there could be another doing a more conventional rhythm, but meanwhile do we know whether it is Pittamn or Cole doing the clearly audible part? As for "I Knew I'd Want You," Hjort does not speak to the mix or finished product, just that the same players (Pittman, Cole, Russell, Knetchel, Blaine) are brought in for the session at which it was recorded. I do now hear what appears to be a second electric guitar, especially on the bridge, doing something somewhat similar to those strums on "Mr. Tambourine Man." What I don't hear is bass. I need to get to a better player I think. When I listen to the left channel only, the only guitar I hear seems to be a bleed from the right side. All I hear is electric piano and voices (what a harmony from Crosby, no?!). No acoustic guitar. I think it was mixed out, though maybe it's there on the vinyl. I would list both Cole and Pittman on Guitar then. --Kohoutek1138 (talk) 20:52, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Just did. Please point me to some specific times in "I Knew I'd Want You" where acoustic guitar is most prominent in the left channel - thanks! Cbben (talk) 23:18, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
