first scottish railway[edit]

Gauge[edit]

Was Medium (Scotch) gauge, but though later Standard gauge there is no point in having this category which would need to include nearly every line in Scotland Hugo999 (talk) 23:14, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've restored the standard gauge category as it is intended to include every line in Scotland that is or was standard gauge. As this article covers the entire history of the line it belongs in the category for both gauges. The category can be subdivided into open/closed and/or geographical areas if necessary - just leave a note on the category talk and one or both of Wikipedia talk:WikiProject UK Railways and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Trains with the proposed sub-categories. Locomotives[edit]

"They had two vertical cylinders, and the pistons had piston rings;". Unlikely, as Ramsbottom had not yet invented them. Globbet (talk) 20:34, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
