Globbet is the psuedonym of a retired Mechanical Engineer who lives in the United Kingdom.

My occasional Wikipedia contributions are mainly in the area of Steam power, History of Technology, Mechanical Engineering and the like.

I think these areas are in want of explanatory diagrams, and I like creating these with hand-written SVG code. I would like to see more direct use of SVG in MediaWiki as I am interested in using SVG animation to illustrate the operation of mechanisms. Simple mechanisms can be animated in SVG with SMIL but more complex mechanisms and user interaction (move the lever and see what happens) would require scripting the SVG with Javascript, which is not presently allowed in MediaWiki.

I can't be bothered with stacks of user boxes and clever graphic tricks here though.
