I've removed eight year old expert-subject tag ... the content seems sufficiently expert. -- 184.189.217.210 (talk) 22:04, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This article may need work[edit]

That article doesn’t have many sources. The information in here contradicts other articles and the article in general needs more sources.CycoMa (talk) 20:39, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Possible original research[edit]

I have looked through some of the sources of this article and there are statements that don’t line up with what the sources are trying to say. I’m just gonna leave the original research tag at the top until the issue is fixed.CycoMa (talk) 03:26, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the word "gender" to "sex" in the Definition section.[edit]

..and added the following comment about the edit: Definition The oxfordreference.com source uses the correct term, referring to "sexual" reproduction. "Sexual" activity comprises things as rudimentary as horizontal gene transfer among the most primitive of organisms, where there no "contact" between organisms.

My education about these matters comes mostly from extensive "Wikipedia-level" reading, while listening to hundreds of journal discussion-based podcasts on microbe.tv starting in 2020 (yeah, Covid...). "Sex" is a lot more mundane than I had imagined it... and the ..other.. word that I occasionally find in articles about single-celled life forms, I think, does a disservice to that word, given its social reality (perceptions, experience, and consequences) in human societies.
