Juilliard[edit]

In the original artcle, Hamlisch was listed as having entered Juilliard at age 7. In his own autobiography, he says he was accepted at age 6, so I have changed that. Rich 21:07, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see it was changed back. There's some confusion here with some sources saying seven[1] and others saying six[2]. I found one that splits the difference, hold on.--T. Anthony 11:23, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know we're not supposed to include original research, but I just got off the phone with Hamlisch an hour ago, and he confirmed that it was 6. (I wasn't calling him about that; I did an interview with him for the radio station where I work.) He maintains absolutely that he was six when he entered Juilliard. I added what I think is anecdotal material from Hamlisch's recent concert performance with the Long Beach Symphony Pops. Is this ok? (Bullfrog117 07:11, 26 March 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Major artistic awards[edit]

I wrote this sentence, but am having minor concerns. "...to have won the five major artistic awards...". Is it reasonable to characterise the EGOT+P as "the five major artistic awards."? Am open to better suggestions. Manning (talk) 01:19, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personal life?[edit]

Where is the Personal Life section? Is Hamlisch married? Single? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.159.111.98 (talk) 10:53, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I added a brief "Personal life" section. (He has been married since 1989).JeanColumbia (talk) 11:21, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Death[edit]

Why does someone keep changing his death date to the 6th? All sources cited say the 7th. I change it as the sources say and people keep changing it back? Jncobbs (talk) 11:35, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Which sources? All the cites I just checked (1, 12, 13, 24, 25) as well as the following three say he died on the 6th, Monday, or yesterday (in an article dated the 7th), all corresponding to the 6th.

>>Death date of August 6, 2012 (Monday) is correct per nytimes.com. The newspaper publish date was August 7, 2012. I have verified that August 6, 2012 death is correct. I also looked up the calendar for 2012 and verified it is a Monday. May he RIP. SWP13 (talk) 05:15, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
