Moving between carriages[edit]

It looks from the pictures like passengers aren’t allowed to move between units, but are there passenger gangways between the two carriages of a married pair? David Arthur 17:33, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Passengers are allowed to move about the married pair (to get to the bathrooms, they might have no choice but to). But they not allowed to move between "units". Pacific Coast Highway {talk • contribs} 21:29, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Passengers are required to be in the front 4 cars on LIRR trains stopping at Forest Hills and Key Gardens. I always get on the front at Penn, but assume you can move forward after the train is underway. Rusty 22:33, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes-- Although there are small signs saying it is prohibited to do so while in motion, day to day operations frequently require passing from car to car.

M-7 (railcar) → M7 (railcar) — While not an uncommon mistake, from the MTA's own literature, it appears that there is no hyphen in the cars' actual designation. See here, especially starting on page 21, where the electric fleet is discussed; no hyphens in any of the M# series cars. Un-hyphenated version is currently a redirect. Other cars in the series, including M8 (railcar), are un-hyphenated. Should probably move M-9 (railcar) while we're at it. --oknazevad (talk) 19:52, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Weak Support per Acps110. I normally don't focus that much on individual train models, but if there's no hyphen, there's no hyphen. The biggest concern I have is that the transition to the new name might be a little difficult, but I have a feeling this might be a minor obstacle. ----DanTD (talk) 01:23, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
