How to fix this article ideas[edit]

What about Mychal and Eric Kendricks? Mychal college at Cal, NFL at Philadelphia, Eric college at UCLA, NFL at Minnesota. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.107.71.111 (talk) 05:46, 13 October 2015 (UTC) Also, their father Marvin Kendricks was an) at UCLA and played in the CFL.[reply]

This is copypasta of my thoughts on cleaning up this article at the deletion discussion--I am not familiar with this topic so I don't think I would edit the page, but here's at least the ideas I had on how this article can be fixed, as it is a hideous mess right now.

  • More concise entries! Instead of listing everything each person has done, cut it down to one or two major things (or simply none at all and simply list their roles; they are linked to the appropriate articles, after all) and remove the last name from the beginning. An example listing would be "Alex Agase (player and head coach) and Lou Agase (assistant coach)" or something like that.
  • Do "twins" really need to be separated from "brothers"? It's an interesting side note, but it could easily be added as a note to the end of their entry in the brothers section. For example: "Tiki Barber (running back) and Ronde Barber (cornerback), twins".
  • Alphabetization!
  • Standard format. The beginning is all constant, but the cousins and in-laws sections have a different format. I like the in-laws section the most, quite frankly, and think it should be adopted for the rest of the page. Putting it all in a table would probably help readability a lot.

Pages on a similar topic (such as List of family relations in the NHL) should be looked at to give a consistent format for all "List of family relations in <sport name>" articles. Fletch the Mighty (talk) 17:31, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Source material for extending this article[edit]

The NFL Hall of Fame has 2 available lists on familial connections in the pro football.

Brothers who played pro football (includes AAFC, AFL, & NFL - but not the CFL or NFL Europa.)Through 2012, 348 documented sets of brothers.

Fathers and sons who played pro football (includes AAFC, AFL, & NFL - but not the CFL or NFL Europa.) Though 2012, 197 documented sets of fathers and sons.

Both are downloadable PDFs.

I'd love to see a "Cousins" list as well, (the Matthews clan is now in it's 3rd generation of NFL players), but given the instability of African-American families in America - (though certainly no monopoly market) - the list would be a tough one to compile and almost too much work for any one individual to create. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IdioT.SavanT.i4 (talkcontribs) 21:53, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
