Catalina[edit]

since when is it specified that catalina is dominican and columbian? in san andreas cesar is mexican so we can assume she is mexican too. --TBH 00:38, 21 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • The Liberty Tree states that Catalina was a mix of Dominican and Columbian. Regardless whether this is canon or not, this was information that Rockstar North had provided, and thus should be mentioned. You are probably right about Cesar being Mexican though; there are plenty of clues in the game to suggest so. ╫ 25 ring-a-ding 02:55, 21 October 2005 (UTC) ╫[reply]

Phil and Nicaragua[edit]

Referring to edits removing Phil and his links with a conflict in Nicaragua, Phil did claim at he lost his arm in the war in GTA III, after Claude aided him in warding off Cartel members from his business:

"Hey-ey! If I teamed up with you at Nicaragua, maybe I'll still have my arm!" (r2_f.wav)

Regardless of canon, this is still worthy of mention. ╫ 25 ring-a-ding 07:22, 11 December 2005 (UTC) ╫[reply]

It doesn't matter because both information are important. My opinion is that he lost his arm in Vice City and just claims in Liberty City that this happend in Nicaragua. But what about his arm in LCS? Is it there or not? 80.171.13.180 14:18, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
He still doesn't have an arm, although I have forgotten which. ╫ 25 ring-a-ding 14:51, 24 September 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

Could someone explain to me how come Phil is missing his left arm in GTA III but he loses his right in GTA: VC, is this a horrible mistake made by the game creators? - RVDDP2501 23:29, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Salvatore[edit]

He is from Sicily.Go to the official GTA3 site, click into Portland, click into Gentlemans club [roughly in middle right of map] and you should see a newspaper article which supports these facts.

Curtly[edit]

In the booklet, there's a voice actor who does the voice for someone named Curtly. Anyone want to invstigate this?

Curtly was a character cut from the game. The only trace of him that actually made it to the final game is his mention in the credits. There's a couple of rumors floating around on who he was supposed to be; most people seem to think he was going to be associated with Darkel somehow, but there's no real evidence of it. There's not enough information to warrant Curtly having his own subsection in the article. Maybe combined with Darkel's information, under a heading of "deleted characters" or somesuch.--RiffRaff1138 21:06, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Claude[edit]

How come he does not even talk? Is he shy? Or does he have a throat disease? He does not even scream, yell, trash talk, etc. All he can do is flip people off with his middle finger! Best Gamer 25 July 2006

The reason for his muteness is never clarified to date. And while he's usually silent, he does produce voices of pain when he is injured or killed. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 12:03, 10 August 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

He is a silent character, like Torque from The Suffering. Portillo (talk) 01:38, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's called "The strong silent type".

This should be obvious.

Look at Mickey Rourke's character in Rumblefish. Same way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.235.194.94 (talk) 05:25, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What is SPANK[edit]

No, seriously, what is this SPANK anyhow? Best Gamer 9 August 2006

It's a fictional drug. This has been mentioned several times in this article alone. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 12:03, 10 August 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]
I think he might have possibly meant how is it created or what is it made of or something to that effect; at least, that's kinda what I wish to know, haha. BishopTutu 04:11, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's the same case as in the question of contents of the suitcase in pulp fiction. It's just as much as it needs to be for the story to work: a drug. Nothing more nothing less. 84.62.29.174 21:50, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

he was also originally known as "the guy."

Claude[edit]

If this Claude is actually Claude Speed, then he dies later on after GTA3, as shown in the GTA2 promo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfm2KmeFjIY Shas'o sodit 13:30, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The question remains unanswered regarding whether both Claude and Claude Speed are the same. Until this has been proven to be true, inclusion of this information is irrelevant in this particular article. Besides, the Claude Speed article has mentioned that he is assassinated in the movie, so no further changes there are needed. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 13:17, 18 August 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

he was also originally known as "the guy," not Claude. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.139.74.243 (talk) 08:46, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Darkel Texture[edit]

Darkel's text setion says "a character texture retained in the game's data files." Is the picture the one from the data files? If not, can we add this character texture? ProSieben 23:45, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it is. Compared with the textured featured here [1], it's a near match. But I don't see the need to upload an actual texture of the character to Wikipedia, although we could take a screenshot of a GTA III *.dat reader depicting the texture, than uploading the image to some image host, like Imageshack, and linking the image externally to Wikipedia. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 15:34, 30 October 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

Maria's section needs edited[edit]

At the end of her section it mentions "Claude may only obtain Uzi submachine guns, AK-47 and M-16 rifles, a flamethrower and a rocket launcher. However, the blast that is heard before Maria went silent is from a shotgun" Assuming this is describing which weapons can be found or taken from cartel member corpses, this is incorrect. Claude may find a sniper rifle between the first two blockades of two Cartel Cruisers on the right by the cluster of trees. Also, instead of finding these weapons by fighting or searching, you have time to race to your hideout with a Cheetah or other fast car and grab every weapon you have unlocked thus far by finding Hidden Packages. If you found all 100, you will find Pistol, Uzi, Shotgun, Grenades, Armor, Molotov Cocktails, Sniper Rifle, M-16, AK-47, Rocket Launcher plus if you've completed all 3 parts and put out all 60 fires of the Firetruck missions you will find the Flamethrower as well. Race back to the dam road and you'd still have about 5 minutes to complete the mission which is plenty if you had unlocked the Rocket Launcher and Sniper Rifle as the weapon pick-ups available at the hideout give you ample ammo for finishing the mission quickly and easily. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.194.218.36 (talkcontribs)

Fixed. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 15:34, 30 October 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

Luigi[edit]

On my first playthrough, when I was escaping the Mafia or whatever in the first city, I managed to kill Luigi so I updated his profile saying it was possible for Claude to kill him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.226.132.77 (talkcontribs)

Carl, killer of Marty Chonks[edit]

Is it possible he is Carl Johnson from GTA: San Andreas? The Carl in GTA III is of African American race (just like Carl Johnson from San Andreas), and we know that Carl Johnson was in Liberty City before the happenings of San Andreas. -Saint Ryan 19:18, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Um, firstly, Carl is blatantly depicted as a Caucasian, with a non-African American accent. Secondly, GTA III is set in 2001, while GTA:SA is set in 1992. All these are evidenced in GTA III. So I can only conclude that their relation is very much non-existent, besides their first names. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 19:28, 2 December 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

Is Claude canonically Claude Speed?[edit]

Okay, this is really makin' me mad. If there is absolutely NO official information stating that GTA: III Claude is GTA 2 Claude Speed, then i believe there should either be 2 separate Claude articles or the Claude Speed character should have a small section of the article dedicated to him and that the title should be "Claude" instead of "Claude Speed/Claude." How can he be considered Claude Speed if there isn't any information stating so? I've posted this in the main article as well. BishopTutu 05:56, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that inevitably, both characters are so intricately connected that a split to separate both character would eventually result in a merge, so I never thought about splitting the article. As much as this arrangement may prompt plenty of people to jump to conclusion that Claude is Claude Speed, readers of Claude Speed are expected to be savvy enough to actually read even only the introduction of the article to understand the current connection between the two characters; it's their lost if they misinterpret the article, although the article name alone would definitely imply the wrong information. One suggestion is to rename the Claude Speed article as "Claude (Grand Theft Auto)," so it refers to both the later versions of the character, as well as the earlier GTA2 version, by their first names. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 09:42, 13 December 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

Unverified Information[edit]

A large amount of speculative, unverified information has been appearing on the following sections

    • Claude -- Mostly about his speculated death at the end of GTA 3.
    • Maria -- Same as above: about her speculated murder of Claude, of which there is no or little support of said statements.
    • Darkel -- Pertaining, mostly, to his speculated role in the storyline.
    • Curtly -- Same as above.

There may be more; these are the ones I recently found; if a source can be found that verifies this info, then post it up. If not, let it be. BishopTutu 00:50, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, for the meantime, it's been resolved. BishopTutu 17:43, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Darkel section needs total cleanup[edit]

There are sentences and descriptions that make little to no sense. Is there any way you can clean this up and maybe correctly spell the lot of it. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.193.207.63 (talkcontribs).

I'll get on that. BishopTutu 00:37, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It makes perfect sense. What do you mean? BishopTutu 00:40, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mayor O'Donovan[edit]

If you look at the map that came with the game, under City Hall it says the Mayor's name in parenthesis. Other things that were in parenthesis were information on what gangs were where and where an employers job point was. This might be a stretch, but would this mean that the Mayor was going to give you missions? Or is it just stating who the current Mayor is(even though it plays no impact on the game as the Mayor isn't involved much with Claude's missions)? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 206.159.155.148 (talkcontribs) 00:27, 7 February 2007.

There is certainly no record of the Mayor being a in-game character, so its hard to prove that he was to give missions or engage in the storyline, unlike Darkel and Curtly. Is there a reliable source to back up the Mayor claim? ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 15:04, 9 February 2007 (UTC) ╫[reply]

El Burro[edit]

Can someone please tell me where exactly is El Burro mentioned in Vice City? I can't remeber it and don't want to remove it as unsourced without giving someone a chance to explain. 69.79.106.12 05:22, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chico[edit]

Shouldn't Chico (Maria's supplier and drug dealer) have his own section in this article? I mean, all the other minor characters has their own section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.217.204.107 (talk) 18:38, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Kasens[edit]

Should their names not be mentioned, at least initially, with the surname first and given name last as is customary in most Asian countries including Japan? Kasen Kenji, Kasen Asuka etc. Just have it in brackets or something like most biographically wiki articles do. D Boland (talk) 20:33, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They're Japanese; like with Western surnames, the surname is last. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 03:06, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Japanese names have the surname first and the given last, traditionally and is still a common practice in modern Japan. Even this very site agrees http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_name D Boland (talk) 20:00, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, very true. My mistake, although that same page states that in romanization of Japanese names, they're displayed in Western order. They're also displayed this way in game. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 21:49, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cipriani Mispronunciation[edit]

It is likely that when Claude was reading the letter "nobody messes with Tony Cipriani", they had him pronounce Cipriani wrong just as a joke, making fun of Claude.

At least that's how it seems, and it does explain it pretty well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.46.253.214 (talk) 01:25, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spoiler warning[edit]

should there be a spolier warning on this because it shows the events of the game.. i know the game has been out for years but some people might have not far enough to know when someone gets killed in future missions and can be a bit of a plot spoiler 82.24.174.20 (talk) 03:21, 16 February 2009 (UTC) See Wikipedia:Spoiler. Maria's age[edit]

The article states:

She is believed to be about 26 in the game.

Does this information have any official source? I'm not sure about graphical rendition of Maria in GTA3 (never played this game), but in San Andreas, which is set around 9 years before, she appears as already mature woman, not a 17 years old maid. It's also doubtful that a person under the age of majority (18 years in US) can be employed in casino. Moreover, children are never featured in GTA games. 217.172.21.161 (talk) 17:04, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Darkel[edit]

I remember finding the game files for this guy, he didn't have the name Darkel anywhere, nor was he ever called that in any interviews except the one referenced. He was meant to be a parody of the unibomber.

Also he was removed because one early mission he was supposed to hand out involved using a school bus to get rid of a bunch of kids. IIRC children were supposed to spawn for the first and only time in game for this mission, before it was dropped completely.

The only artifact of his existence that made it in game was one of the homeless models, and the abandoned tunnel his missions were meant to start in. If a player walks in a group of homeless people will attack, referencing the violent anarchist hobo that was meant to be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.43.202.180 (talk) 01:07, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
