Images[edit]

I propose that somebody post several images throughout this article that illustrate the conventions of the late-night talk show: a picture of Jay Leno doing a monologue, a picture of Conan O'Brien doing a comedy sketch, a picture of David Letterman interviewing a guest, and a picture of a singer or a comedian performing on one of their shows. Other kinds[edit]

Back in the 1980s Channel 4 in the UK pioneered what they described as a different kind of late-night talk show. The current introduction to this article does not properly describe this kind of programme; however as the article is headed "Late-night talk show" I have added the programme (After Dark) to the UK list. After Dark wasn't a US style late night talk show though, and even so didn't last very long. The US format has never worked in Britain, either as a direct import or a UK adaptation. None of the US shows are currently shown on British mainstream channels even as post midnight fillers - the humo(u)r just doesn't cross the pond. --Ef80 (talk) 20:24, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
An anonymous editor has recently repeatedly removed After Dark from the United Kingdom list (where it has sat stably for over seven years). This editor's removals have not been accompanied by any explanation but perhaps they are related to this discussion.
In any case it would be good to clarify the issue: the article is called "Late-night talk show" (which After Dark certainly was) but this is then defined at the top, wrongly in my view, in narrowly US-centric and comedic terms. Is there something to talk about here? My suggestion would be either to rename the article or make it about talk shows which get transmitted late at night, rather than just one kind in particular. Does anybody know how to do something like this? http://new.pentagram.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/TNGT_Post_Chart_021814.pdf — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.76.114.147 (talk) 04:59, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Australian late-night talk shows?[edit]

I'm sure there have been a few over the years, but I'm not exactly sure how to best compile a list. Any ideas? Electricmaster (talk) 14:21, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Going to add a few notable ones. Electricmaster (talk) 16:11, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
