Singapore legalized homosexuality https://www.npr.org/2022/08/21/1118681206/singapore-lgbtq-rights-law 24.189.64.239 (talk) 07:59, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. – robertsky (talk) 08:02, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Appeal[edit]

Coming into affect in 2023 (see Equaldex), Singapore will repeal Section 377A, meaning male homosexuality will be officially legal in Singapore. So, I would like to replace the "Illegal for men" part with "Legal since 2023" or something on the lines of that. Singapore's PM, Lee Hsien Loong, announced the change last month. Sources:

@Thiscouldbeauser We wait till the new law is in effect. WP:CRSYTAL – robertsky (talk) 14:17, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Robertsky could we at least add something like "will be legalised in 2023" or whatever at least somewhere here? Thiscouldbeauser (talk) 14:53, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Thiscouldbeauser It is already in the article that there will be changes to the law. As for the dates/years, let's hold it off putting our/your timeline to it since there is no sources indicating when the law will pass. We don't report or speculate on Wikipedia. – robertsky (talk) 14:59, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Same-sex activity between women was never illegal[edit]

The partial repeal in 2007 dealt with oral sex, not sex between women. Read the law itself. They are very much not the same thing and are not to be misinterpreted. There is no actual evidence that specifically states that same-sex activity between women only became legal in 2007. There was never such a law as sex between women wasn't as frown upon as compared to sex between men when the law was legislated in the 1930s. Pauline Muley (talk) 11:15, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Typo cleanup[edit]

Old: The parliamentary debates and the prime minister's statement played a role in the 2022 ruling of the Court of Appeal in the Supreme Court that the law was unenforeable.

New: The parliamentary debates and the prime minister's statement played a role in the 2022 ruling of the Court of Appeal in the Supreme Court that the law was *unenforceable*.

Can someone with edit privileges fix this typo?

^^^ Come here to say the same thing. "unenforeable" should be "unenforceable".

Done Thanks for pointing it out. Kleuske (talk) 13:55, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Replacement of "LGBT Singapore Flag"[edit]

The production and display of a "lgbt Singapore flag" in this article violates the Singapore Arms and Flags and National Anthem Rules, Part III, Use and Display of Flag, 9 Use of Flag, (6), as per Singapore Statues Online.

"No person shall produce or display any flag which bears any graphics or word superimposed on the design of the Flag." as per Singapore Law.

There is no doubt that it is highly disrespectful to display our National Flag with superimposed graphics and to desecrate National symbols, even online.

This desecrated symbol does not hold any significance to this article nor is it approved by the Singapore government.

It is also unnecessary to display this version of the LGBT flag, as it already exists and does not need to be superimposed onto a National Flag and symbol.

I am not against the LGBT community, but as a Singapore citizen, I will not accept the desecration of my country's flag, and request that it be taken off this page and replaced with a plain LGBT flag, which would be more suitable. ExtremelySaltyPlayer (talk) 09:21, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
