Re. Notability[edit]

I did read the guideline. :) WP:AUTHOR states "The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors." His field was the history of Cardenal Caro and Pichilemu, he wrote two books which are constantly cited by related articles in different publications, such as a local newspaper called Pichilemu News and his articles have appeared in books (1, 2, 3, 4). So yes, I'd say he's notable. I may be wrong, though. Diego Grez (talk) 20:12, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So, if you think that José Arraño has notability, u've to expand it adding reliable, published sources:
  1. It seems that isn't regarded as an important figure or isn't widely cited by peers or successors.
  2. The person isn't known for originating a significant new concept, theory or technique.
  3. The person hasn't created, or played a major role in co-creating, a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work, that has been the subject of an independent book or feature-length film, or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews.
  4. The person's work either (a) hasn't become a significant monument, (b) hasn't been a substantial part of a significant exhibition or (c) hasn't won significant critical attention.
Besides, you have to be careful with refs, coz the first one is quite similar to Life section and for me, it's quite similar to a derivative work —something that is "based on or derived from" another work. Redards. —Jmvgpartner (talk) 20:27, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think the person's article has to comply with all of these points. Pablo Neruda, for instance, wasn't a person who originated a new concept, theory or technique, but he has played an important role in Chilean literature. It is not exactly the case of Arraño, but you might get the point :) Diego Grez (talk) 20:31, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Don't be confused: Pablo Neruda won the Nobel Prize "for a poetry that with the action of an elemental force brings alive a continent's destiny and dreams". He played an important role in World literature; it isn't the case of Arraño at all. Greetings. —Jmvgpartner (talk) 21:22, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
