Hello User:Hipal and other editors!

I need explanations on this lines that are on the page:

Binn's ex-girlfriend Amy Dorris says that they attended the U.S. Open in 1997 with Donald Trump, who Binn had described as his best friend. At the event she alleges that Donald Trump sexually assaulted her.[1]

References

  1. ^ "Donald Trump accused of sexual assault by former model Amy Dorris". TheGuardian.com. 17 September 2020.
From my understanding, I believe the lines are funny. 1. Both dudes attended a U.S Open event as claimed by the ex-girl. What has this got to do with Binn's page?

2. Donald Trump is being accused of assaulting Binn's ex-girlfriend. The sexual assault is a mere allegation that is not proven. It's against WP:CRIME. If at all it must be allowed, it should be on Donald Trump's page not on Binn's.

User:Hipal, could you explain why you reverted the removal? I need to understand pls. I don't want to go into edit-warring with you. I strongly believe the entire content ought to be removed. It makes no sense. This is biography of a Living person.

Pls I stand to be corrected. I am taking this up at WP:BLP Noticeboard. I need clearance on this. To me, it's quite funny and the entire lines are against the dictates of WP:BLP.Ilsecondoordine (talk) 20:24, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for starting a discussion.
The reference is of high quality per [[1]].
The reference goes into detail about Binn regarding Dorris and Trump.
Let's see what we get from BLPN. --Hipal (talk) 20:37, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I'm not a BLP expert by any means, but I saw this post on the noticeboard and thought I'd give my two cents. I don't think there's a BLP issue per se with this material, but personally I'd still remove it under WP:OFFTOPIC. Based on the source, Binn doesn't appear to have been involved in the alleged assault or its aftermath, and he states that "he had no recollection of Dorris telling him that anything inappropriate had happened" at all; therefore, while Binn has clear personal connections to both Dorris and Trump, the alleged assault isn't notable in the context of Binn's article. Coming here from BLPN, I have to agree this seems to be WP:COATRACK and WP:UNDUE in this article. Definitely as worded, this leads me to think, WTF does this have to do with Binn since the only connection is she was his girlfriend at the time so they attended the event together and he once called Trump his best friend. There's no suggestion Binn was involved in the alleged assault in any way or had a significant response or non response towards it. I had a look at the source to see if anything was missed but not really. It mentions she can't recall if she told Binn about the incident although she did tell him “He’s all over me. I can’t deal with this. You have to do something.”. This doesn't seem to be enough to give this any significant relevance to Binn. This may very well belong in some article on Trump and an article on Amy Dorris if we ever have, and it would likely be fine to mention Binn in such cases. If it helps, IMO it only being an allegation is not particularly important in this case. IMO, even if what happened was proven beyond a reasonable doubt, it still wouldn't belong here since it still has little to do with Binn. Nil Einne (talk) 11:57, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
While I am seeing considerable coverage at the time, I'm not finding references that demonstrate longer-term importance.
Mention of Binn's friendship may be due given the ref above and [2] --Hipal (talk) 20:50, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jason Binn two requests March 2024[edit]

Out of respect for the 'close connection' tag and the page's history, I'd rather not make any changes myself because of a potential COI, but would like to request:

1) New heading for personal life

Could the second paragraph of "biography", about his family be moved to a "Personal life" section, and "biography" changed to "Early life and education?" Thanks - pet layout peeve for biographies.

2) COI tag technicality

The Template:COI tag was added on Sept. 14, 2023 (diff1). It seems to be in good faith, but, the editor didn't add a talk page note with the specific editor(s) they had in mind, so possible to remove the tag for breaking the COI tag guidelines for BLPs?
