Birth date[edit]

Only The Guardian obituary has his date of birth as 1926. Other sources say 1931. So how do we know we should use 1926 here? TrottieTrue (talk) 19:26, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I emailed the Guardian's obituaries desk, and got a quick reply: "Thanks very much. We checked the birth year with Harry's daughter. There is a birth record from 1926 under the name of Loudinsky Hyman J mistranscribing the name Londinsky – best wishes, Robert White, obits editor" So I guess that's quite conclusive, though I wonder why Harry lied about his real date of birth. Possibly to avoid military service in WW2, but he was still old enough for national service. TrottieTrue (talk) 16:15, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
