Pronunciation[edit]

A recent anon added their pointed take on the pronunciation of "Forza" that has now been undone. According to the Italian Wiktionary, in Italian it's pronounced "FORT-zah", while most English speakers remove the T and pronounce it "FOR-zah". Since Dan Greenawalt, the head of Turn 10, pronounces it Italian-style more often than not, would that make it the proper pronunciation, or would WP:COMMONNAME apply, in a sense, and make the English-style version the one for the article? --McDoobAU93 16:21, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

DLC Expansions[edit]

The article could expand on some of the larger DLC pack expansions that have been offered throughout the series. Examples include Forza 6 Porche and NASCAR expansions. https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/store/p/forza-motorsport-6-standard-edition/c291k0n6dp2g SquashEngineer (talk) 13:30, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

– There aren't any obvious primary topics for the word "Forza" besides the series. Everything else on the disambiguation page is a vague match, or not very notable by comparison. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 14:47, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose, but move to Forza Motorsport per WP:NATURAL of to Forza (video game) as this is a series of racing video games. "Forza was" in books refers to anything but Forza Motorsport. Even gamers don't refer to the game as "Forza" alone. In ictu oculi (talk) 16:43, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't appear to be the case. There are two series within the Forza series; Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon. "Forza series" is common in Google News.--Cúchullain t/c 15:32, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Not seeing any primary topic here. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:03, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Even including the topics that are not only called "Forza", the page views are dominated by the series and associated topics.[1]--Cúchullain t/c 15:32, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

– I am once again asking for the video game series to become the primary topic. It has only gotten more and more prominent and popular over time with the Forza Horizon games being some of the most prevalent racing games out there. There are also no other articles solely called "Forza" to disambiguate from, with the vehicles all being under alternate names. The primary topic for this term is crystal-clear. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 16:01, 4 April 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. Steel1943 (talk) 19:18, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. Still not seeing any clear primary topic here. Depends what you're into. Not overwhelmingly well-known. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:48, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to know what other articles you think are of equivalent primary topic significance. Robert Forza and Forza Italia are both partial title matches. The three automobile model names are not even what their respective articles are named, with the scooter having been out of production for 14 years. Compared to a major, ongoing video game series that has the sole name "Forza", that has so far grossed over a billion dollars, I don't see the argument that people are searching for predominantly other things. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 21:19, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak oppose I'd be more supportive if this were a game in the series but we have specific pages for Forza Horizon, which I have heard of. I don't think I would necessarily expect Forza on its own to direct to the entire game series given the fact it's a fairly common term and think it's better served at its current title. SportingFlyer T·C 09:05, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SportingFlyer: Would it change your mind if I said that "Forza" - yes, just "Forza" is rather commonly mentioned in the press as the name of the series? Not just "Forza Motorsport" or "Forza Horizon"? See also "How Forza raced past the competition to become gaming's biggest driving series". I think the majority of people would know the series as simply "Forza" without the additional word. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 11:56, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Necrothesp and SportingFlyer: could looking at the Wikinav data change your view? – Uanfala (talk) 22:47, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Not really. It's a long term significance thing. SportingFlyer T·C 14:48, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • No. It's not all about pageviews. It's also about long-term significance. Too many others for this to be primary. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:33, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom, seems like clear primary topic, only one even Indagate (talk) 15:00, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support as per nomination. No other article solely known as Forza so this is primary topic by default Satellizer el Bridget (Talk) 10:39, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Totally irrelevant. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:34, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
How is that irrelevant? WP:PTM clearly states that disambiguations are meant to resolve conflicts in identical names, not act as indexes of articles that start with the same word. The common name of Forza Italia is just that, as is the case for everything else there. There is an argument that the disambiguation page should not exist. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 17:01, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Clearly the primary topic with respect to usage, with really no other competitor for long-term significance. Sure, forza is a common word in Italian, but as far as I can see the only other encyclopedic topics it can refer to in English are a tiny Philippine football club, a Dutch political party represented in a few municipalities, and a few obscure makes of car. – Uanfala (talk) 15:04, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per Uanfala. In English, the franchise itself is clearly the primary topic for Forza as a mononym. In the Italian version of Wikipedia? Of course it should and would be treated differently. Much like how Egypt and Germany will always be the common name of the aforementioned nations in English, whereas in their respective native languages the actual name for their nations are something else entirely. Haleth (talk) 05:08, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nominator. KevinNov3 (talk) 01:44, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
