Death Issues[edit]

Some sources claim that he died in the Tegel prison in Berlin in 1980, but they are weak and in my view unreliable. There other sources that claim he was released in 1971, and died free in 1980. My issue is that most of the sources that claim he died in prison have no sitations. It seems that most of this info comes out of the Escape from Sobibor movie, which is not a valid source. If anyone can prove when Bauer died in prison (I mean common, its 1980 we are talking about West Germany, there must be official records!) please post it. I wrote this article, and want to make sure it’s as factual as possible. I am gonna revert since there was no sitation claiming he died in prison in 1980, and place reference on my original statement (read below). Thanks for reading and editing.

"On 22 December 1971, at age of 71, Bauer was pardoned and set free. He died on 4 February 1980."
