Stroke[edit]

Edmund White had a stroke and is recovering from it. This should be mentioned in the article.96.227.207.86 (talk) 20:53, 23 May 2012 (UTC) http://www.towleroad.com/2012/05/author-edmund-white-suffers-stroke.html#ixzz1viQ4hh3E[reply]

"The Disappointment Project"[edit]

Can anyone verify that this is indeed one of White's works? I have never heard of it; there is no book of that title in the Library of Congress; there are no copies on AddAll.com or Amazon.com; a few White book jackets that I checked do not refer to it; and Google searching brings up only references to the Wikipedia bibliography. Barnabypage 13:15, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have provisionally removed it by commenting it out. Obviously, if anyone knows for sure that it is really one of White's works, go ahead and reinstate it! Barnabypage 15:18, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I have now received an email from Edmund White confirming that he didn't write a book of this name. Barnabypage 21:07, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Added some of White's anthology appearances, divided work into Fiction/Nonfiction categories, added link to White's home page. Heyfoureyes 01:25, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:A-boys-own-story.jpg[edit]

I found Image:A-boys-own-story.jpg and noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. Someone will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If it was obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If there are other files on this page, consider checking that they have specified their source and are tagged properly, too. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:52, 25 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fair use rationale for Image:A-boys-own-story.jpg[edit]

Image:A-boys-own-story.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 04:52, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Incest?[edit]

"His father was having sex with his sister" - this seems to be an exaggeration if you read My Lives. I'm changing it to "had sex with his sister" --Totorotroll (talk) 11:07, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please rewrite incest stuff[edit]

The article reads, 'Incestuous feelings existed in White's family; his mother was attracted to him.' This should be rewritten so that it is clear that this is White's claim (if that is in fact what it is). It's not appropriate for the article to state this as fact. Gay Men's Health Crisis[edit]

I added mention of White being one of the founders of the Gay Men's Health Crisis. This was among the very first organizations to address the developing HIV/AIDS crisis.Malke2010 21:02, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem[edit]

This article has been reverted by a bot to this version as part of a large-scale clean-up project of multiple article copyright infringement. (See the investigation subpage) This has been done to remove User:Accotink2's contributions as they have a history of extensive copyright violation and so it is assumed that all of their major contributions are copyright violations. Earlier text must not be restored, unless it can be verified to be free of infringement. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions must be deleted. Contributors may use sources as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences or phrases. Accordingly, the material may be rewritten, but only if it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. Please see our guideline on non-free text for how to properly implement limited quotations of copyrighted text. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously.
