  • This article is new enough and long enough. The hook facts for ALT3 are cited inline, and this is much the most interesting hook for a general reader. The article is neutral and I detected no copyright or plagiarism issues. A QPQ has been done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:25, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the review! — Emperork (talk) 18:53, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but there are really too many hook facts in ALT3 to read comfortably. Could you suggest a shorter and snappier hook? Yoninah (talk) 20:47, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi Yoninah! I trimmed down the hook. Can you check it out if it would suffice. Thanks! — Emperork (talk) 21:02, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I’m good with this. Sounds better. :) — Emperork (talk) 06:12, 22 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you. Since I wrote the hook, we need another reviewer for ALT4. Pinging original reviewer @Cwmhiraeth:. Yoninah (talk) 10:56, 22 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

First term priorities[edit]

Hi Emperork This is good work. I would like to make one edit but I thought of reaching out to you first. Listing Labella's first term priorities may go in conflict with WP:IINFO, WP:NOTBROCHURE, and WP:CBALL particularly that they're all from a primary source (Cebu Gov website) which may also be WP:RS issue. I hope to hear your thoughts. Verbosmithie (talk) 03:09, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback Verbosmithie! What do you suggest on how we can still include this piece of information? I can try to look for more sources as well. - Emperork (talk) 06:11, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Emperork I would think that we can delete the first-term priorities. The rest is okay. Labella is the head now of a major Philippine city. He's bound to have coverage on his gov't programs, policies, and works, and this page will grow in size to reflect that. We'll include them as they happen and documented by the press. What do you think? Verbosmithie (talk) 09:57, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Will try to expand this as more articles come along maybe focusing on those kind of "priorities" that he has laid out during his inaugural speech. I'll just go ahead and take it out for the meantime because I have also nominated this for DYK and it might be one of those that will be pointed out. Thanks! - Emperork (talk) 10:07, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Emperork That was quick. Thanks for being really easy to work with, and I hope to see more great Wiki works from you.Verbosmithie (talk) 10:43, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No probs Verbosmithie! Cheers! - Emperork (talk) 12:15, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I saw this article in the list of pending DYK nominations. I am not going to formally review the nomination there, but if I did, I'd probably have to go with a quick fail . The main problem is that the article, in its current state, reads completely like a resume, and is profoundly uninformative. The article simply gives a recitation of the offices he held and run for, and the awards he received. No information at all about his politics, his positions on any issues, what he did or tried to do in any of his offices, any successes or failures, controversies, etc. Verbosmithie is correct that this kind of info should not be sourced to primary sources (especially those associated with the subject himself). But the article needs this info, and badly, especially if the article is to go the main page. Nsk92 (talk) 01:19, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Awards section[edit]

Hey, Emperork, I'm thinking most of these awards don't look actually noteworthy. Most of them seem to be undergrad awards from his uni when he was ~18, and then a bunch that are basically the city giving out awards to employees. I'm thinking only the two from 2010 look like possibly being worth mentioning. --valereee (talk) 16:05, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That should be fine Valereee. I also just stumbled on it on that page. There's not much references on his awards. Thanks for the help! :) —- Emperork (talk) 16:18, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You're so welcome, and thanks for the flexibility! --valereee (talk) 16:32, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I will review. I notice that the nominator has not been active in the last few weeks, so I will leave some initial feedback. If an editor responds within a few days, we can continue the review from there. Larry Hockett (Talk) 08:33, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lead[edit]

  • The lead section is too short to summarize an article of this size.
  • "currently serving" - see WP:WTW regarding relative time references

Early life[edit]

  • "completed his elementary education at Mabolo Elementary School" - redundant; presumably one would not complete any other type of education at an elementary school

Early career[edit]

  • "Cabahug Law office" - why a lowercase o in office?
  • This section reads like a resume. It seems like he held some high-level positions that would have received some coverage in reliable sources. I wonder if he investigated any high-profile officials, for example.

Political career[edit]

  • I am assuming that the councilor positions are three-year terms, but the prose doesn't make this very clear.
  • "namely Jose Daluz III and Ronald Cuenco" - The use of "namely" isn't strong writing in English, especially when it appears three times in an entry. Instead, just tell us their names.
  • "after then Mayor Michael Rama" - after Mayor Michael Rama (we know you are talking about then)
  • Most of the political material is just election results. What did the subject actually support or accomplish as a politician?
  • "declared his intention to run as Mayor of Cebu City" - run for
  • "fellow partymate former Mayor" - former mayor (it is clear from the surrounding context that they shared a party)
  • "the same elective position" - the same position

Controversies[edit]

  • Sinulog 2019 fiasco - fiasco is non-neutral
  • Bambi Beltran - update in the case from 2019?
  • On June 2019 - In June 2019 (but... COVID wasn't known in June 2019. Do you mean June 2020?)
  • "inadequate management and response" - it is non-neutral to say this in Wikipedia's voice

Let's stop there for now and see if there's a response. Larry Hockett (Talk) 09:02, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Since the review has been open for nearly two weeks with no substantive edits to the entry in months, I think we can close this nomination now. The entry can be nominated again if a nominator emerges with a willingness to address the review feedback. Such efforts should probably start with expansion of the political sections. Thanks. Net worth[edit]

I removed the net worth parameter from the infobox, as the parameter has now been deprecated. If anyone wants to add that content elsewhere in the article, you can find what I removed in this edit. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 18:05, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"legal consultant of the National Institute of Science of Technology"?[edit]

Did he actually work for the National Academy of Science and Technology instead? "Institute of ... of..." from the ref does not look right. --PFHLai (talk) 17:07, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
