The reader is solemnly told about the first Easter Parade: "The first was on Palm Sunday as Jesus was welcomed to Jerusalem by an adoring throng." Unintentionally amusing, this article imagines a connection between the walk-about and an Easter procession. Not historical. --Wetman (talk) 22:00, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No imagining here. All is sourced. Lou Sander (talk) 22:47, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sauced or plain the article says "a festive strolling procession on Easter Sunday... with or without religious significance." --Wetman (talk) 07:37, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Move to "Easter parade"[edit]

Good article. I recommend it be moved (renamed) to "Easter parade" in accordance with WP:PRIMARYUSAGE as this is the primary topic. The song, movie and book are derivative. However, I can't move it because "Easter parade" was used as the disambiguation page before this article was written. I've moved the dab page but need to request an admin to move this page. Before I do, what do you think? Station1 (talk) 22:18, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think that you are right. The article about the parade should be the main one. Those about the song, movie, etc. ARE derivative. Go ahead and do whatever is needed.
Thanks for the compliment on the article. For such a short one, it took a LOT of work. On Easter, I became curious about the Easter parade, and was surprised to find nothing about it in WP, and very little on the Internet. I made requests to two public libraries, which sent me five books and three scholarly articles. They sat on my desk, unread, until I got overdue notices for the books. That spurred action. It took a long time to sift the pertinent facts out of the books and articles, and even longer to reassemble them into an encyclopedia article. It was VERY hard to describe the parade in a few words, but in the end I think "festive strolling procession" did it. Lou Sander (talk) 22:26, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I quite agree. I'll see if I can find an admin to do it. Gatoclass (talk) 07:22, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, it was done yesterday already! I didn't notice. Gatoclass (talk) 07:30, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
