Sourcing issues[edit]

  1. American Canine Hybrid Club - has come up in previous discussions and generally been discounted on the grounds that (as noted at the bottom of the referenced page) "other hybrids will be added as demanded by breeders". Stating that a breed is "recognized" generally implies that the agency recognizing the breed has standards for the breed which go beyond a simple pairing of parent breeds.
  2. Dog Breed Info - has also come up in previous discussions. The text which begins "The <breed name> is not a purebred dog" and which continues up to "multi-generation crosses" is boilerplate text which is used on all of their pages for hybrids (for example, see their page on the Broodle-Griffon. The only unique content on the page is the photos and captions, which have no value as a source.
  3. Designer Mixes - haven't seen this one before. Might have some value, but I am personally highly dubious about most blanket claims regarding dog behavior. There is an incredible amount of individual variation, and generalizing a dog breed as "active, playful, and curious" is an extreme oversimplification.

I'm not reverting immediately, but I'd like to hear your input, Cheat2win. Zetawoof(ζ) 00:49, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • You got me there [lol]. To be honest, you're absolutly right. That way, why don't we let the final one stay, since looks to be the only one "more reliable"? Cheat.2.Win 01:20, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sure. Better yet, I'll just pull the Designer Mixes link up as a ref for the lede (the one bit that's more or less beyond dispute) and drop the attitude section entirely. It's hard to make any but the most general statements about temperament for established breeds, let alone hybrids; I doubt that there's actually anyone with enough experience with this hybrid to make those sorts of statements period.
