Dave Wehrmeister[edit]

Baseball Almanac is reporting a date of death for Dave Wehrmeister, but they do not provide a source. Further google searches turn up empty. Is Baseball Almanac a reliable source to cite when reporting deaths? Here's the link: [1]. thanks, DSH DarkStarHarry (talk) 16:09, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball Almanac are reliable. Their focus is baseball history, and are regularly the first to reveal the passing of a former player. I use their Recent Deaths tab similarly to how Olympedia is utilized for Olympic player passings. Rusted AutoParts 16:30, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Would it be worth it to update the Reliable sources page with their reputation? thanks, DSH — Preceding unsigned comment added by DarkStarHarry (talkcontribs) 16:34, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I find it much more valuable to assume that the vast majority of sources are reliable by default, and only consult that list of perennial sources if my suspicions are aroused - in other words, to see whether there is a mark (or question mark) against a source regarding reliability. It's not supposed to be an exhaustive list, and would be several miles long if that were the aim. Having said all that, if you wished to get it added to the list yourself I don't see why anyone here would object. Ref (chew)(do) 21:38, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Want to edit that the death of Fiji's Former President Epeli Nailatikau who died today at his house in Suva 119.235.68.155 (talk) 03:22, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Cannolis (talk) 04:27, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
IP editor cannot, as there are none, and Nailatikau appears to be still alive. Ref (chew)(do) 08:22, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, it's strange that an editor in the same IP range made some earlier edits to the person's article claiming they had died back in February 2023 (all reverted, of course). Ref (chew)(do) 20:19, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello all. I would like some advice on his date of birth. It seems she died aged 72 instead of 69 according to the Palm Beach Post. It says that the sheriff's office has September 29, 1951 for his date of birth. I'm asking myself if she cut years to his age to seems more younger like some actresses do or if the sheriff made an error by taking his date of birth some days ago.[2] Thanks. I would likely figure she indeed scaled down her age given the way Hollywood was (probably still is). I don't see official medical records, which the police would've gotten access to, being wrong. Rusted AutoParts 20:30, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, on search, I'm seeing a vast majority of sources supporting her birth date of 1954. Sometimes there's no actual conspiracy. Ref (chew)(do) 00:07, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay…but this isn’t a case of one newspaper source saying one thing and another newspaper source saying another. One of the sources is the office of the sheriff investigating her death. Rusted AutoParts 03:49, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For what it's worth, the sheriff doesn't need to (and usually isn't allowed to) see your medical records to tell how old you are, just your ID. InedibleHulk (talk) 09:50, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
