So, all mention of the Panama papers is hidden in his personal life[edit]

That doesn't seem correct 2604:3D09:D78:1000:EBD5:90F0:22E0:3387 (talk) 04:31, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Short description consensus[edit]

@Tim O'Doherty: and @Neveselbert: The more accurate short description for this article as per WP:SDDATES should be-Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom since 2023. However some believe that such a short description tends to be too long and hence it should be- British politician (born 1966) as long as he's in his current position. A consensus needs to be reached on this issue soon. Regards MSincccc (talk) 05:39, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some might consider his tenure as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom as more significant. Martinevans123 (talk) 08:27, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The description should remain "British politician (born 1966)" for the time he is foreign secretary, and then revert to "Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2010 to 2016" thereafter. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 12:56, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Neveselbert and @Martinevans123 But shouldn't his present position be mentioned in his short description? Regards MSincccc (talk) 13:23, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't think that's essential. Michael Gove isn't described as "Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and Minister for Intergovernmental Relations," and even Jeremy Hunt isn't described as "Chancellor of the Exchequer". In the past 6 years the Tory cabinet has been a veritable merry-go-round of appointments and resignations. It's hard to keep up (literally). Martinevans123 (talk) 13:33, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Martinevans123 It would be accurate to do so. Once he ceases to be Foreign Secretary, the SD will return to Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2010 to 2016. Regards MSincccc (talk) 17:03, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
""British politician (born 1966)" is also 100% accurate. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:09, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But would you not focus on his present role in the government? All members of Parliament are after all not members of the Cabinet. Regards MSincccc (talk) 17:13, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd focus on a summary of his life. But happy to see what Neveselbert has to say. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:16, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Martinevans123 and @Neveselbert I don't see a clear reason why his present status as "Foreign Secretary" should not be noted in his SD. We can obviously revert to his Prime Ministerial term being mentioned once he's no longer the Foreign Secretary. If length's an issue then even Rishi Sunak and James Cleverly's SD should also be trimmed down. Looking forward to knowing from you both. Regards MSincccc (talk) 07:57, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"Foreign Secretary" is ambiguous, and "Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom" is not an actual title like Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 12:27, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This page is on my watchlist, so you don't need to @me every time. Or even at all. Thanks.}}

Edit Request: Date typo[edit]

In the Foreign Secretary section, there is a typo which has Cameron raised to the peerage in 2013, not 2023. Please address. 64.30.93.144 (talk) 01:21, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
