Requested move 22 September 2020[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Moved to Danny Lauby Jr.. There seems to be general consensus for the move from Dan to Danny. I've also taken the liberty of appending a period after Jr, because this is the usual form per MOS:JR and there doesn't seem to be any special reason not to follow that - the third source below does so, and others use "Jnr" instead. If anyone thinks this is controversial then we can discuss.  — Amakuru (talk) 20:54, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dan Lauby JrDanny Lauby JrNeutral nomination: An editor repeatedly attempts to add {{DISPLAYTITLE:Danny Lauby Jr}} to the page, which of course has no effect other than to put the page in Category:Pages with disallowed DISPLAYTITLE modifications (see WP:DISPLAYTITLE for the correct usage). His most recent edit summary is "Changed the players name for correctness". My assumption is that his intent is to move the page to that title. This is potentially controversial because the external link at Dartsdatabse refers to him as "Dan Lauby Jnr" which suggests he is known by at least some in the field as "Dan" rather than "Danny." More research is required to determine if there is a "primary" name he is "most known by" in reliable sources. This page move should not be rushed. • Support it does appear that he goes by "Danny". His Facebook uses "Danny" (on two pages for some reason), but from independent sources, [1], [2], [3]. -2pou (talk) 14:54, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Danny Lauby Jr.[edit]

Yes, the player goes by Danny professionally to distinguish him from his father, who is also a professional darter — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bstormes (talkcontribs) 18:30, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, BUT what name is he most known by? What name do most reliable sources call him by? Hopefully within a week it will be clear that most sources call him "Danny" or that most sources call him "Dan." One way or the other, it's what the rest of the world calls him not what he calls himself that counts. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 20:06, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
He goes by Danny now. He is a client for the management firm that I am employed by. Bstormes (talk) 21:14, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please list some independent, reliable sources here on this talk page to go along with any "official, non-independent" sources and it will probably result in the page being moved. Also, read Wikipedia:Paid editing disclosure and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest to avoid unnecessarily causing problems later. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 22:53, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
