Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was moved to Brian Christopher. --BDD (talk) 22:47, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Brian LawlerGrand Master Sexay – His time in WWE far outweighs anything he's done anywhere else. Also, he was known as GMS more than he was Brian Christopher, so that name is probably well known more. Relisted. BDD (talk) 19:18, 20 September 2013 (UTC) GeicoHen (talk) 16:33, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose I'd probably be OK with Brian Christopher, but not this. Grandmaster Sexay lasted about five years, Christopher twenty-three and counting. InedibleHulk (talk) 12:04, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. His stint as Grand Master Sexay was his period of greatest exposure. The current article title is inappropriate since Brian Lawler is neither his real name nor his best known name. McPhail (talk) 14:46, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose but support move to Brian Christopher - Since he significantly has wrestled under his real name, arguable with more success. Grandmaster Sexay's one tag title doesn't look good against all the indie titles he has won as Brian Christopher. Considering he only spent five years under the gimmick, Brian Christopher would be his WP:COMMONNAME. STATic message me! 15:33, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move to Brian Christopher. It appears to be how he's best known in the sources; "Brian Christopher" wrestling returns 219 hits on Google Books, compared to 128 for "Brian Lawler" wrestling and 69 for "Grand Master Sexay" (the least common of the options). His real name also splits the difference between his various stage names.--Cúchullain t/c 19:47, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
He's also easily the primary topic of the name Brian Christopher; the only other ambiguous article, Brian Christopher (lacrosse), was viewed 199 times in the last 90 days, compared to 31,049 times for this article. The lacrosse player can be found just as easily through a hat note.--Cúchullain t/c 20:00, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move to Brian Christopher - oppose the suggested move though. He's just been known as Christopher for much longer.LM2000 (talk) 22:23, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Death[edit]

Alright then. So we have to await proper confirmation of his death Kamva Cewu (talk) 17:18, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Social media reports aren't good enough. Nthep (talk) 17:20, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
News13 in Memphis state he is on life support as well as other news outlets. Chris "WarMachineWildThing" Talk to me 18:02, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Right, I've had to apply full protection to the article. The issue is simple, if he has died then provide the reliable verifiable sources (note sources for preference) that establish that this information is correct. In the early rush it's not unknown for even normally trustworthy sources to get it wrong, so take your time come up with good sourcing and make an edit request below. Social media isn't good enough nor are quotes like "so and so says he's dead and he's normally knowledgeable about things", say where you got it so it can be verified. Nthep (talk) 18:21, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It has now been reported by Uproxx, Meltzer, and The Wrap.HC7 (talk) 18:28, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm seeing one tweet (Meltzer) and two sites reporting the tweet, that's not conclusive enough to satisfy WP:BLP. Nthep (talk) 18:31, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Everyone who says he has passed is using Meltzer as their source, he has yet to name his. He's been wrong before, Actual news outlets in Memphis say hes on life support and all of them say the Lawler family isn't commenting. WWE isn't commenting either but they did on Nikolais. There has to be no questions it's true, I don't see why everyone rushes to change someones article to being dead on here. If it's true then it's true but if it not then it turns into a BLP violation. [1]MSN Confirms it. 209.237.77.26 (talk) 19:18, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I do not understand what is going on. Brian Christopher died this morning, and if you do a simple google search, there are dozens of reputable sites to verify the news. It happened. Please unlock his wiki page. Thanks.

Then put in your suggested edit below including your sources and it can be assessed for reliability and verification. Nthep (talk) 18:54, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It is locked. WpgJets4Life (talk) 18:57, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This talk page isn't, write your sources below. Nthep (talk) 18:59, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Local Memphis News is confirming it. Rusted AutoParts 19:02, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
^ This should be adequate, and the page should be opened immediately.WpgJets4Life (talk) 19:07, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
WrestlingInc has confirmed his death via a “source close to the family.” The Kip (talk) 19:17, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Protection removed but everyone is reminded that WP:BLP still applies and cited sources must be provided especially in relation to his death. Uncited additions will be removed, this isn't a race to see who can get the information on first. Nthep (talk) 19:28, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wrestling Inc isn't a reliable source, per WP:PW Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:10, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Time of Death[edit]

He died on the morning of July 29, 2018. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.38.189.88 (talk) 01:48, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

We don't usually give a time of death, unless it's stated in a reliable source why it's important. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 06:39, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
