You've added the wrong tag - what you're actually wanting to say is that the article lacks citations. Without citations from reliable sources it could indeed be personal conjecture. However, the interpretations given are mainstream ones from scholars of art history - Longhi is noted as a reference, but Gash was also used, and I believe others. You're right, nevertheless, about the leck of cites - perhaps you'd like to read some of the major Caravaggio studies and add them? Two versions[edit]

Anybody want to give us a translation of the Latin? My little Collins Latin dictionary doesn't even have some of the words--e.g., I had to get "insidiose" by checking the etymology of insidious in my American Heritage Dictionary!

Boy Bitten by a Lizard is an oil-on-canvas painting from around 1595 by the Italian Baroque painter Caravaggio. It exists in two versions, both believed to be authentic works of Caravaggio; one is in the collection of the Fondazione Roberto Longhi in Florence, while the other, shown here, is in the National Gallery, London. The identity of the sitter (theorised to be Mario Minniti) and the symbolism of the painting have been the subjects of much debate.
