Brooklyn Water Works: Eagle description in August 12, 1900

[edit]

The Brooklyn Daily Eagle was doing some investigative reporting on the Brooklyn water system; it suspected that the Commmissioner was fabricating all or part of a water shortage. The paper ran a fairly comprehensive description of how Brooklyn got its water, where the reservoirs and holding ponds were, the capacity of connecting pipes and the location and capacity of pumping stations. I imagine some of these details could find their way into this article. Links below, but the type is small. For extended reading, I suggest going to the home page, of Brooklyn Daily Eagle Online select 'Date Search' and choose 'August 12, 1900'. Article is on page 6. That route turns on article selection capabilities so that you may read text, at a larger size, in a separate window. Gosgood (talk) 18:17, 12 January 2008 (UTC) [1][reply]

Brooklyn Water Works On Youtube. After a draggy intro, Robert Miller hosts visits to four sites:

With many details. In past years I briefly visited these locations and others but did not get pictures of the most interesting bits. I ought to return for more leisurely photography in late autumn when foliage obscures less. Jim.henderson (talk) 13:35, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
