On 19 September 2021, the NHC began monitoring a tropical wave over [[Africa]]. The wave rapidly intensified. On 23 September 2021, the wave became a tropical storm and was given the name Sam. Sam intensified into a hurricane on 24 September 2021. The next day, Sam upgraded into a category 2, Later that day Sam upgraded to a category 3 making it the 4th major hurricane of the season. Later that day Sam again upgraded to a category 4.

Sam currently is a category 4 with the highest wind gust of 165 mph and in 1 minute mean Sam have 140 mph winds and the pressure is 943 MBAR (27.85inHg).
