Wyatt Estes Bartlett (USN)[edit]

Wyatt Estes Bartlett (born 14 March 2000) is a United States Navy Petty officer second class and Operations Specialist who served as a Maritime Sector Interface Control Officer (MRICO) onboard the USS Ronald Reagan during the 2020-2021 U.S. Evacuation of Afghanistan, mostly known for his actions during the Mercer Street incident (2021) under the command of Rear Admiral Will Pennington in the Gulf of Oman. Later being awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his involvement in counter terrorism, search and salvage, and rescue operations with attached Explosive Ordinance Disposal Mobile Unit Five (PLT 5).

Military Career[edit]

Bartlett joined the Navy as an Operations Specialist on 12 August 2019 and graduated Basic training on 19 October 2019 from Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, IL. Bartlett served for 4 years at his first duty station Task Force 70 at Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan. Deployed onboard the USS Ronald Reagan, He received extensive training and gained experience from his supervisors during this time, Deploying three times in the Pacific ocean, and one in the middle east. All deployments were consecutive. Bartlett reenlisted in 2024 under a two year contract and volunteered for continuous overseas duty. He is currently deployed as a Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) Operator in Romania with the AEGIS Ashore NATO Joint command.
