Lauren Baker (born 1982), also known as Luna, is a London-based, British contemporary multidisciplinary artist exploring metaphysics, symbolism, consciousness & sustainability.[2]
Early life[edit]
Baker was born in 1982 in Middlesbrough, United Kingdom. Baker studied Business, Psychology & Sociology[3] atNorthumbria University in Newcastle.
Career[edit]
Following a short career in marketing, Baker took a trip to the Amazon jungle, where she claims to have experienced an epiphany that she was an artist.
Baker then began an intensive masters in mosaics, before learning her trade on the streets of Brazil. In 2017, Baker studied Site Specific Sculpture.[3][4]
Baker made a name for herself with bold neon art[5] through which she channels the power of energy with poetic typography and celestial chakras. Baker is passionate about the environment and her artistic practice is sustainable, using light to express the ‘secrets of the universe’. Baker's work is created at the intersection of art and spirituality, and she often references the natural and spirit worlds, passions that were ignited after spending time with tribes in the Amazon jungle.[6]
In 2022, Baker embarked on 10 days of silence in Mexico. The experience led Baker to claim that she "knew myself on a deeper level than ever before, gaining insight and a tremendous loving awareness for myself and others". This work inspired her series "Ten Days of Silence"[7]
Baker is known for her diverse body of work, spanning site-specific installations, public light art, and environmental activism[8] and has exhibited at prestigious British arts institutions including The V&A, Tate Britain and Tate Modern. Her site specific installations have been on show at Burning Man[9], in the Saudi Arabian desert and in Abu Dhabi.
In 2024, Baker will unveil her latest bronze sculpture "Consciousness Awakening" at Venice Biennale.

- Letter From The Universe: Baker's 25-meter installation at Kintsugi members wellness club in Abu Dhabi in 2023, designed to evoke inner peace and promote global harmony through a conceptual sound frequency message.
- 'Wisdom Totems' at Burning Man: In August 2023, Baker unveiled 10 metre 'Wisdom Totems' at Burning Man in the Nevada desert, exploring symbolism and standing at an impressive ten meters tall.[10]
- 'Luna Woman Power Totem': This 3.3-metre public light art installation, created in celebration of the suffragette movement in 1914, stands as a testament to Baker's commitment to historical and social themes. Located in Palmers Green, London, it was commissioned in 2022 as a long-term installation.[11]
