Identical category?[edit]

What's the difference between this category and the new category Category:Judaism-related controversies? --Wassermann 06:05, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cat:Christian and Jewish interfaith topics[edit]

Why is it assumed that Judaist controversies will automatically involve Christians? The Muslims have a good few of them too! --MacRusgail 17:51, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Standing between two mirrors[edit]

The category Jews and Judaism-related controversies contains the subcategory Christian and Jewish interfaith topics. If you click on the + to open it, you find the sub-subcategory Jews and Judaism-related controversies, which contains the sub-sub-subcategory Christian and Jewish interfaith topics. This could go on indefinitely and runs the risk of causing a discontinuity in the time-space continuum or creating the butterfly effect or something. Could someone who understands how categories are supposed to be organized fix this? --Steven J. Anderson 07:54, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not all Jews and Judaism-related controversies are Christian and Jewish interfaith topics. Actually the same may apply to the converse, too. —Ashley Y 09:00, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

do all these subcats really belong here?[edit]

I question the wisdom of including some entire categories here. Surely not everything relating to Modern Orthodox Judaism or Reform Judaism is a controversy, for instance. I think it would be much better to mark specific articles detailing/highlighting the controversy to be included here. OTOH, categories like Blood libel are created specifically to encompass the controversy. ⇔ ChristTrekker 16:03, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category name changed to "Judaism-related controversies"[edit]

Does this category include articles about "Jews" and articles about "J related controversies"? Or does it include articles involving "Controversies related to Jews or controversies related to Judaism"? If the latter, maybe it would be a good idea to improve the title to be less ambiguous, such as "Controversies related to Judaism or Jews". --Noleander (talk) 20:35, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing no comments on this, I think I'll submit a rename request to change the name of this category to " "Controversies related to Judaism or Jews". --Noleander (talk) 12:58, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The title change was submitted, and the discussion was at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2010_June_8#Category:Jews_and_Judaism-related_controversies. The result was a name change to "Judaism-related controversies". So the ambiguity has been eliminated. The scope of the category is still intended to be (as it was originally): "Controversies related to Judaism or to Jews". In other words, the word "Judaism" in the title should be interpreted as a religion or as a culture/ethnicity. --Noleander (talk) 13:53, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
