Need Images?[edit]

Howdy. Near the end of my sophomore year, I won a digital camera by frequently visiting the vending machines in my dorm. Over the next two years, I went crazy and took a boat load of pictures of just about anything I could. From lighting the torches before Midnight Yell to flamingos on West Campus... lots and lots of stuff. Right now they're all sitting on my computer, and I thought it might be nice to share them. I may add a few myself, but what would really help me out is if you're working on an article that needs photos, or you see an article lacking photos, let me know. I just might have one. Ensign beedrill (talk) 18:47, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You may be my new favorite Wikipedian :) Some of the traditions pages need images!
Thanks! Karanacs (talk) 19:52, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hah! Hope I don't let you down, then. I've been looking through my files and started posting photos on the commons page.
  • Elephant Walk and Junior E-Walk. I posted what I thought were the best ones.
  • I found one picture of Nick, but grabbed another one from the Army game this weekend. My camera has a horrible zoom, otherwise, I'd have good pictures of the players.  ;) I also posted a picture of an all 12th Man Kickoff Team for good measure. I put them under the football section.
  • I posted two Maroon Out pictures, but I'm not sure what you mean by good. Personally, I don't think there is any more percentage of maroon in the stands during a Maroon Out game than during a regular game, so it might be hard to tell that they're actually Maroon Out games.
I'm afraid my photos of west campus are limited: most of my classes were on the main campus. But I'll put up what I have. I've picked out several Midnight Yell pictures and will put those up, too. Look for them later this week. Ensign beedrill (talk) 02:15, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ooops, sorry it took so long to get the rest of the pictures up. I put up a bunch of Midnight Yell pictures and also some of West Campus—the garage, the Rec Center, the Heep Center, somewhere outside the George Bush Library (I don't know what building it's a picture of, so any help would be appreciated), and some flamingos. This wraps up the requests, so if anyone needs photos of anything else, let me know. Ensign beedrill (talk) 02:40, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Great! Thanks and Gig Em! Oldag07 (talk) 14:30, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome. We greatly appreciate the help Ensign beedrill. You can post all the pictures you want up on the TAMU commons page. I have posted a lot myself. Best of luck. Gig em!

Buildings of Texas A&M[edit]

I am thinking about starting a Buildings of Texas A&M University page. I plan on using the Buildings of Iowa State University as a reference. I don't feel the band hall and the OEM should be on the Campus of Texas A&M University page, so this is a solution, especially when the GB library is not on it.. Suggestions? Volunteers? Help? Gig em! Oldag07 (talk) 18:07, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe I should call it "List of Buildings of Texas A&M University"
I would be otherwise be concerned about a significant amount of overlap with the existing Campus of Texas A&M University article, so I favor making it a list-class article to reduce the amount of duplication and make it easier to maintain. EagleAg04 (talk) 13:35, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't actually that difficult to copy/ paste something off a campus map of TAMU. what should be excluded? Oldag07 (talk) 13:37, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm all in favor of including any and all buildings in a list article, much like List of University of Texas at Austin buildings. An example of unwanted overlap can be found in List of Northwestern University buildings and Campus of Northwestern University. EagleAg04 (talk) 13:50, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is copied from http://campusmaps.tamu.edu/ . It might be too big. i don't know. . . . Oldag07 (talk) 22:17, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In general, getting a shot of anything else new (anything after I graduated) would be useful, like that newfangled building next to Simpson Drill Field. Another shot of the Academic plaza might be nice as well as a shot of the quad for the Corps of Cadets article. — BQZip01 — talk 20:40, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I got a couple of shots. the weather this weekend was horrible. also, my laptop broke. thankfully, i have a good warranty on it, but it should take me sometime to upload these pictures. Thanks and Gig em! Oldag07 (talk) 19:52, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Laptop decided to work. Well then, my new pictures. I am done for the day. Any help distributing these pictures amongst our pages would be appreciated. Thanks and Gig Em! Oldag07 (talk) 23:36, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New article? Big Event[edit]

I think that Big Event deserves it's own Wikipedia article (though it still should be noted in Traditions) because it has been adopted by so many other universities and even a high school. What do you all think?--Sdk2k11 (talk) 00:18, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is a great idea, Sdk2k11. To get started on such a page, start your own sandbox, (User:Sdk2k11/Sandbox) and copy and paste what we got for the big event into it. (This is what my Sandbox looks like) than start adding stuff from the other schools websites. I started poking around for sources for such an article. the Virginia Tech website seems well done. http://www.sga.vt.edu/bigevent/other.php once you get started, just message me, and I will try to help you as much as I can. keep up the good work! gig em! Oldag07 (talk) 01:33, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great, I probably will not get a chance to get started until tomorrow evening but I will keep you updated on progress.--Sdk2k11 (talk) 01:38, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Take your time. I don't think i can say it better than WP:DEADLINE. Thanks for joining. Oldag07 (talk) 01:50, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Before moving any article from your sandbox to article mainspace, please make sure that there are an adequate number of independent reliable sources that we can use to establish an independent notability. School websites don't count for this. I had a hard time finding newspaper or magazine sources when I searched previously, and if those don't exist (or if they are only from the Battalion or other school newspapers) then this should not be a stand-alone article. Karanacs (talk) 16:23, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice. I will look for quality sources and if I find enough I will work on the article. I will let you know when I am done so you can check it out and make sure the references are good enough (and suggest/make any changes) before I post it.--Sdk2k11 (talk) 01:03, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure other editors would also be happy to help too. — BQZip01 — talk 01:46, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, any help would be welcomed and greatly appreciated (as I am a new editor and I'm sure I'll have some issues, especially with formatting). I have started a sandbox on my page where it can be created and edited User:Sdk2k11/Sandbox. Feel free to edit, add, comment, leave sources, review ect.--Sdk2k11 (talk) 02:20, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Add info on investigations to 1999_Aggie_Bonfire_collapse#Investigations[edit]

Would anyone mind adding info on the investigations to 1999_Aggie_Bonfire_collapse#Investigations? There are several reports about the disaster.

Reactivate WikiProject Texas?[edit]

I have just marked WikiProject Texas as inactive. They have not answered their help talk page since at least August 2018, they are not doing assessments, nor do I detect any other project activity. Anyone interested in breathing life back into the project, please let me know if you have any ideas about how to do this. No need to ping, I have added this page to my watch list. WP Texas merger proposal[edit]

I have proposed a merger for all of the WikiProject Texas subprojects: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Council#Merger_proposal . Oldsanfelipe2 (talk) 17:44, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Content assessment#Proposal: Reclassification of Current & Future-Classes as time parameter, which is within the scope of this WikiProject. This WikiProject received this message because it currently uses "Current" and/or "Future" class(es). There is a proposal to split these two article "classes" into a new parameter "time", in order to standardise article-rating across Wikipedia (per RfC), while also allowing simultaneous usage of quality criteria and time for interest projects.
