Strange javascript: onmouseover="_tipon(this)"

I noticed two different IPs adding the same strange javascript to two different articles, here and here. In case this is part of a trend, I thought it worth highlighting here. 63.251.123.2 (talk) 23:50, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Probably harmless experimentation. The javascript calls _tipon and _tipoff are typically used to pop up and remove a tool tip box. I don't see any real documentation about it, but there's some mention on StackOverflow here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3234920/how-to-disable-google-translate-original-text-tooltips - so maybe someone was trying to enable a translator on a mouse-over event? ~Amatulić (talk) 00:29, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Many spam links, probably added by many users/IP editors

I don't really have the time to investigate/deal with this fully, either now (for obvious reasons) or in the medium term (I'm planning to *reduce* my Wikipedia editing activity, not increase it!), but I've found what seems like a hornet's nest of spam (or at best, borderline) links (and most likely users):

People are using these sites in good faith as references (e.g. this edit). They seem to be run by Kable. Graham87 14:45, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

Citation spam by IP editor

Wade. I reverted all of the latter (e.g., here) which were obviously not constructive (and to a religious-POV vanity press, to boot), but the former is outside my area of expertise so I am less comfortable just reverting. I posted a talk page warning about the Roe v. Wade spam before I noticed that all of the citations were to the same author, so there's a likely WP:COI. postdlf (talk) 23:04, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
