Barnstars

Hi, @A Simple Human, DT Truth, Randeepa, Fade258, and Abishe: hope that you all will be fine and safe. I pinged you all for a request. This project has no barnstars at present. I would have created a barnstar but I don't know how to make or create a one. Maybe anyone of you knows how to do that and create it. The following 2 barnstars are required: Template:LPL Barnstar and Template:LPL Barnstar of Merit along with their photos. Thank you. Empire AS ^Talk! 12:18, 30 November 2020 (UTC)

A Simple Human, okay. We may change the name of 2nd barnstar. I think that this project should contain 2 or 3 barnstars. Well, I am only experienced in making the barnstar template, however I am not skilled in making the photos, and if I create them, I cannot upload, because I cannot have access to Wikimedia Common from consecutive five months, I really don't know the main reason, it always present that the Page is not found, is someone else facing this same problem? @A Simple Human, DT Truth, Randeepa, Fade258, Abishe, and Tahaaleem: The work has been  Done. All the three templates named Template:LPL Barnstar, Template:LPL Special Barnstar and Template:LPL Barnstar of Merit are created. In the beginning, it was difficult to make the photos for them. However, the photos were to be created not to be found. After a long time, I created the photos successfully and uploaded the photos, resulting in the barnstars formation. Empire AS, all of those barnstars are stupendous, you have done a really splendid job, people at your age are quite less proficient and adriot in these works. @Empire AS: Great job! You did a great job according to your experience. If I've known photoshop skills I could have made them and saved you. Attendance isnt mandatory. This isnt school dude so chill. But User:DT Truth is questionable. They doesnt respond to any messages tagged to him or on his talk pages. Their edits are also questionable and not propely made. @A Simple Human:, I mentioned them because I thought that they might know the photo creation of barnstars. However, before their reply, templates were created. I haven't learnt any skills for photography or editing and also I'm not experienced in it. I just tried to create them and succeeded in it. 'DT Truth' is new to Wikipedia (approx. 1½ month old), so he/she should be given time. In the beginning, no one knows much about editing, and needs some times to learn and edit. Therefore, he/she is not responding to messages and making any good edit. Let them be a participant of the project. I hope that they'll do good. Thank you. @Empire AS and Tahaaleem: I have made the latter the coordinator of this project. I am already the coordinator of WP:BPL and is currently the only active member there. Regarding article

On the tasks, the article 2020 Lanka Premier League Final is demanded, I have tried to find references but as of now, I have only found 4 reliable and adequate sources for the article. Tahaaleem, I think that we should wait till the final is over. Because before it, we don't know who will win. After the final, you would have more references to use and a better reliable article would be made. @Empire AS and Tahaaleem: Tbh you can crete the final articles anytime. Even now. Just follow what the IPL, PSL and BPL articles does. Also after the season ends, the list of records/statistics, centuries, five wicket hauls, umpires and captains articles. Dont create them now as one season is not enough. Let the current season finish. You can also create a list of squads article to prevent babdalism on individual team articles. Yes Mohammed Amir took the first fifer of the tournament but again its early days and it's the inaugural edition. Maybe yeah we can create but still will it be okay to have such a list article with only one fifer as of now. If we have two or three then we could create it definitely. Yeah I agree with Abishe, this might not be a pertinent time for creating the article, as we only get one fifer, this might not be adequate to make a list with one fifer, maybe we should wait until the season ceases, until that time, maybe that time there will be three to four fifers, and it would be applicable to create the article, but it's your choice. Hi, Fade258, thanks for being active in this project. However, one thing that I want to clarify you is that it's not always the responsibility of only founder to add the tasks. Any participant of the project may add anything to the taskslist what they think is necessary or what's required for the project. Moreover, change the above template transclusion to link. i.e., '{{Template:2020 Lanka Premier League}}' (transclusion) to '[[Template:2020 Lanka Premier League]]' (link)'. Hope you understood. @Empire AS and Fade258: I am updating the 2020 Lanka Premier League and also all the team's articles. I created the main Lanka Premier League article almost two months before the actual tournament. If anyone one of you create the other articles at the task, I can update them too. I usually update all BPL articles alone so this won't be an issue. A Simple Human, the user didn't consulted anyone, although we already have a article List of Lanka Premier League records and statistics, I guess that article might not be pertinent, because the other article, contain almost all statistics, although the user hasn't confabulated in any discussion, but I guess the article might not be applicable. As you can see the other T20 leagues do not have articles for individual seasons so unless the LPL gets cancelled after one season then i think we should just follow them. I would like to congratulate the founder, Empire AS, for being the top contributor to this project, and ameliorating a lot of articles, related to the project. Secondly, I would wholeheartedly congratulate A Simple Human, for updating the most salient page of the WikiProject. Then I would like to congratulate Fade258 for creating a lot of articles for the project..and keeping us updated if articles need any amelioration, and lastly I would like express gratitude for CreativeNorth for writing the proses for the 2020 articles of the teams..that's really a arduous work. Tahaaleem, Thank you for the praising words. All participants did their job excellently. Some work is left there in the tasks section that would also be completed soon. Creative wrote a very good prose for all the 5 articles. Human and Fade do good too. But one whom you forgot is DT Truth, who also contributed a lot besides creating templates of league stages, DV in 2020 and updating other articles like the final and CK in 2020. He is an active contributor. Regarding barnstars, anyone may award a barnstar to any other user about whom they think that a particular user should be awarded with the barnstar for their hard-work, contribution and diligence. See Wikipedia:Barnstars#How to give a barnstar for more. But there should be 'their' instead of 'there'? Where? Empire AS ^Talk! 12:22, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Empire AS, thank you for your assistance, sometimes I do silly grammatical mistakes, and what do you meant by where? But the article doesn't have many of the tables as in other leagues. If someone creates them, I can update them as well, or I will create them myself later. Also I will be updating the individual team season articles very soon. Meanwhile, we have some news about the second season with probably new teams [1]. Thanks for the compliment by the way, Fade258. MOS:COLOR compliance violations

This is a warning to all members of this project that many of your article table headers and templates are in violation of MOS:COLOR. For accessibility reasons, colours must have a minimum contrast to enable readers with poor eyesight to be able to read them. Red and orange text on a blue background is not compliant with this, and so I have been making many of your articles and templates compliant. Generally, if you're using a dark background colour, white text is best, and for a light background colour, black text is best. Compliance of colour combinations can be checked [2]. LPL Logo

The LPL logo is copyrighted, and so can only be used in minimal places. In particular, WP:NFCCP says that it can only be used in articles and article space, so cannot be used in template space. Hi, @Empire AS and A Simple Human:, sorry for pinging you, I wanted to ask, that we need File:LPL.svg to fit in the userboxes, however I noticed that there is already only LPL text file, I don't know about the author of the file, so should I create one, or the current one is applicable? CreativeNorth, seeing the current situation of article, I don't think that it qualifies for GA. This article needs 3X expansion, I guess. Also some sections like History, Impact of COVID-19, Drafts, Rules and some extra sections should be added as well as expanded. @CreativeNorth: Someone seems to have serious problem with LPL. What will you say about List of Indian Premier League records and statistics, List of Pakistan Super League records and statistics, List of Bangladesh Premier League records and statistics and List of Big Bash League records and statistics? Those articles have been here since a long time and no one raised issues. The naminator said one season bu the second season of LPL have been already almost announced. If this article gets deleted, then slowly slowly this WikiProject would become weak, and all articles would be lost, already five templates have been deleted, three are proposed to merge, and the team articles would also be merged sometime later. @CreativeNorth and Empire AS: It's not the prose. Only one user has mentioned prose. The main concern is only one season has been done. This kind of makes sense because the stats are currently the same as season stats as there is only one season. The article shouldn't have been supposed to be made in the first place as this entire project. A large project like this for a tournament with only one season is unsuitable. Usually the article is speedily deleted in such cases. What we can do is redirect the article to the main article of the tournament. Human (talk) 17:35, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Project merge proposal

Hello WP:Lankan Premier League members. During a discussion about creating task forces at the Cricket Project, it has been suggested to merge the various Twenty20 projects into the Cricket Project as task forces, inline with other projects which generally don't have separate WikiProjects for single events. The main benefits of this proposal will be standardising current LPL articles with other cricket articles and increased assistance from the Cricket Project, which has more active members and for which in the long-term a resource library is being constructed. • Strongly support, we don't need separate WikiProjects for any individual cricket tournaments. They could be task forces of WikiProject Cricket, but no need to be breakaway groups trying to do their own things and making their own standards for articles that are different from other cricket articles. Hello. I dont know how much active this project is as there hasnt been any discussions here for a while. I completely forgot about this project and that I'm a member of it. My reason for sudden resurrection is because there haven't been a Final match article for this year's tournament. Also there have been a total of three five-wicket hauls in both the editions of LPL, so I'm thinking of creating the List of Lanka Premier League five-wicket hauls. User script to detect unreliable sources

Main page: User:Headbomb/unreliable

I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like

• John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.)

and turns it into something like

• John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14.

It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.

The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.

Project-independent quality assessments

Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present.
