Possible source[edit]

I found a source that may be useful for covering information about Lady Gaga's image

See: Simulacrum - It may be good to link to that age if you use the source WhisperToMe (talk) 04:11, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Featured content at other Wikipedias[edit]

Does anyone know if there are places where we can request to have quality Gaga articles at English Wikipedia translated and promoted at other Wikipedias? For example, Dope (Lady Gaga song) has also been promoted at Spanish Wikipedia, but not other languages. It would be nice if we could encourage other Wikipedias to promote Gaga content. Maybe the best strategy is just to ping editors who worked on promoting one article and see if they'd be willing to translate and promote others? ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:44, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Fame Monster = Good topic?[edit]

Do project members think this good topic is ready? ---Another Believer (Talk) 04:45, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Surely yes, I am just going through all the articles and will update soon. "Alejandro" needs some work I can see and so does The Monster Ball Tour, but we should be ready soon. —IB [ Poke ] 04:47, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Fantastic! I think you should have the pleasure of submitting the nomination. I assume you're interested and willing, but just say if not, I'm sure someone else would be up to the task. ---Another Believer (Talk) 05:08, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I am interested, but I'm nitpicky haha. —IB [ Poke ] 05:20, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No problem! Just let us know when you decide to take the plunge! ---Another Believer (Talk) 05:26, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

IB, I think as long as all articles are still of quality status, there's no need for you to revisit each entry before submitting the nomination. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:38, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/The Fame Monster/archive1 is submitted for Good topic. —IB [ Poke ] 07:49, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:18, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Just out of curiosity, how are "contributors" to the good topic determined? ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:32, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It comes down to who helped work a topic's articles up to FL, FA, or GA. Snuggums (talk / edits) 21:34, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. I promoted "Teeth" to GA status, but mostly I was just curious and adding my name is not necessary. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:05, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats! ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:08, 9 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish and other languages?[edit]

Are there any project members who speak languages other than English and would be willing to translate some of the project's Good articles and nominate them for similar status on other Wikipedias? ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:22, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I personally cannot speak any other language fluently, but whoever does that will have quite a task to take on! Snuggums (talk / edits) 22:09, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, but at the same time, translating a Good article is much easier than starting a new one from scratch! I just think it'd be nice to see quality Gaga articles in other languages. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:10, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I posted a note at the Lady Gaga project at Spanish Wikipedia to see if anyone is interested. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:55, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

TechHaus Volantis[edit]

FYI, I posted requests at WikiProject Aviation and WikiProject Aircraft for assistance expanding and improving the TechHaus Volantis article, which is an unusual article for WikiProject Lady Gaga but one that's part of the proposed Artpop Good topic. I think getting help from editors more familiar with aircraft article standards would be helpful. We'll see if anyone is interested! ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:51, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing that the article probably could not be expanded anymore, I'm actually willing to propose a merge with Artpop. —IB [ Poke ] 04:16, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Showcasing quality Lady Gaga content across all Wikimedia projects[edit]

I've created Wikipedia:WikiProject Lady Gaga/Wikimedia to showcase quality Lady Gaga content across all Wikimedia project. Feel free to beautify and update appropriately. Would be great to see more articles promoted at various language editions of Wikipedia. Happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:56, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Brilliant! Thanks for doing this AB. —IB [ Poke ] 18:27, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sure thing! I found all the current links by viewing the promoted Lady Gaga articles here at English Wikipedia. There may be a few promoted articles in other languages that are not promoted at ENWP, so be on the lookout and update the list as needed. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:37, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Something to keep in mind, User:Gabrielflorin01 has nominated "Applause" and "Million Reasons" at ro.Wikipedia, so the list may (hopefully!) need some updating soon. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:29, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder: Recent failed GA noms[edit]

Just a reminder, these GA noms were abandoned but could be re-nominated and promoted based on feedback received:

Lady Gaga or Stefani Germanotta?[edit]

Hey! I've been editing Gaga's music articles and I noticed that in the infobox in some it is written Lady Gaga and others Stefani Germanotta in the Songwriter(s) section. I think we should decide whether it will always be Lady Gaga or her real name, including in the article List of songs recorded by Lady Gaga. Thoughts? GagaNutellatalk 21:34, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know, those vary based on which name she gets credited under for each track, though I regardless can see why people would opt for just one or the other. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 21:53, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, if you take a look at "Stupid Love" (at BMI) it is written Lady Gaga, while "Rain on Me" (at BMi) it is Stefani Germanotta. GagaNutellatalk 22:05, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sour Candy sample issue[edit]

Chromatica currently has this line: A sample of Maya Jane Coles' "What They Say" (2010) sources the deep house-inflection of the bilingual "Sour Candy". (Though we don't repeat this claim in the Sour Candy article.) The line is sourced to a Pitchfork review which says: “Sour Candy” is at least the fourth pop song built on a sample of Maya Jane Coles’ “What They Say.” The words "fourth", "pop", and "song" link respectively to music videos for "Truffle Butter", "Swish Swish", and "Girls Like".

Also, if you search for "sour candy sample", you can find news articles that repeat this claim (example - though note that the article is framed as reporting on claims made by fans via social media).

The problem is, I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. Truffle Butter does sample "What They Say", but Sour Candy, Swish Swish, and Girls Like merely have basslines that are reminiscent of the song, because they all draw inspiration from the same 90's techno house sound. If you listen carefully, you'll find the melodies are clearly different. There's a good, cogent forum post that breaks this down, though of course as WP:UGC it's not a reliable source we can cite.

However, while Truffle Butter credits Maya Jane Coles as a songwriter, Sour Candy does not include her anywhere in the credits (nor do Swish Swish or Girls Like). Would this not be considered proof that there's no sample? If so, is it worth mentioning this in the article? e.g. something like "Fans and critics speculated that the song sampled Maya Jane Coles' 2010 song "What They Say"[ref][ref], though Coles was not credited in the liner notes.[ref]" (Though someone might read that as us saying that the song did sample and failed to give credit. There's probably a better way to word it.) Colin M (talk) 20:50, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I have renominated it. I took this review into consideration. Can someone take a look again, please? GagaNutellatalk 04:48, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck! On the off chance you're interested in other Gaga articles which have been nominated previously, see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Lady_Gaga#Reminder:_Recent_failed_GA_noms. ---Another Believer (Talk) 04:51, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, good to know about it! Thanks. GagaNutellatalk 04:53, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

80 GA articles[edit]

Congratulations to all of us for bringing 80 articles to GA status. Plus, we have 6 FL and 5 FA. Amazing! GagaNutellatalk 17:01, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fantastic work, all! ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:06, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hopefully 6 FAs soon :) FrB.TG (talk) 06:28, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I hope "Born This Way" can be a featured article one day :) Sricsi (talk) 18:34, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(Now 6 FAs. :)) Sricsi, it can be. If you're interested in working on it and need assistence, let me know. I'll be more than happy to help you out. FrB.TG (talk) 08:37, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Project-independent quality assessments[edit]

Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present. Aymatth2 (talk) 13:12, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, do you guys think this article is necessary? I believe it might not have enough content about this track. GagaNutellatalk 15:10, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No, and I've boldly redirected it to Born This Way (album) accordingly. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 18:55, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have just seen that. Amazing! GagaNutellatalk 23:04, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
