Reardon

Hello, found this place named Reardon to be in Illinois, assumed Jersey County, Illinois, because it shows Fieldon, Illinois to be 3,6 nm (!) east from Reardon, Illinois. Georef seems to be nearby Jersey County, but Jersey County doesn't even mention it and unfortunately i couldn't find Reardon on factfinder. Any idea, how to check, wether this place exists or not? Old-plain maps, e.g.? Or would it be a better idea, to place this request on the Jersey County disk page? --Pflastertreter (talk) 01:20, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Curtis Candy Co. roadway signs

It was either in the late 1930's or early 40's that our farm in Wisconsin had a Baby Ruth O'Henry roadway sign erected on onr land by the Curtis Candy Co. In return we received a box of each of those flavors every fall. I would like to know if there are any photos of those signs available today. My e-mail address is [email protected]. Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators. All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 05:39, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Fox Lake page

I visited the Fox Lake page today and it is just terrible. It is riddled with poor grammar and improper structure. It offers no useful information about the town, only making mention of how Al Capone used to stay there. The article should either be fixed or removed, because it is of embarrassing quality right now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.48.160.245 (talk) 04:15, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Request for a photo in Clinton, Illinois

Is there anybody involved with this project that lives close enough to Clinton, Illinois, to take a photo for upload to Commons? I've very recently completed articles for WHOW and WEZC but what they need as a crowning touch is a photo of the "big red barn" (seen here) they call home that I can use in the article. A hook featuring these two articles has just been approved for DYK but if a photo can be added quickly then there's a good chance it could be at the top of the list with that photo displayed on the Main Page. Even if it can't be done in the next day or two, a photo of this Illinois landmark at any time would be a welcome addition to these radio station articles. Thanks. - Dravecky (talk) 18:43, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

GA Sweeps invitation

This message is being sent to WikiProjects with GAs under their scope. Since August 2007, WikiProject Good Articles has been participating in GA sweeps. The process helps to ensure that articles that have passed a nomination before that date meet the GA criteria. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. Instead of reviewing by topic, editors can consider picking and choosing whichever articles they are interested in.

We are always looking for new members to assist with reviewing the remaining articles, and since this project has GAs under its scope, it would be beneficial if any of its members could review a few articles (perhaps your project's articles). Your project's members are likely to be more knowledgeable about your topic GAs then an outside reviewer. As a result, reviewing your project's articles would improve the quality of the review in ensuring that the article meets your project's concerns on sourcing, content, and guidelines. However, members can also review any other article in the worklist to ensure it meets the GA criteria.

If any members are interested, please visit the GA sweeps page for further details and instructions in initiating a review. If you'd like to join the process, please add your name to the running total page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles from the worklist or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. With ~1,300 articles left to review, we would appreciate any editors that could contribute in helping to uphold the quality of GAs. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! correction?

Under the heading of Mchenry Illinois it is noted that the Fox River is the seventh most polluted river in the country. I have never heard that and do not see the proof anywhere. Perhaps Mchenry's Fox River is being confused with Wisconsin's Fox River? I think that statement needs to be fact checked at the very least. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.162.248 (talk) 06:25, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Request for Input on Template

I have been running what amounts to a one-man task force on Community Colleges in Illinois, which has articles that tend to be under developed. In fact I am working on three of the education stubs listed on the talk page. My goal is to get them to Good Article Status over the next 12 months. As a part of this, I have designed a few samples of a proposed Footer Template of Illinois Community Colleges to accompany the articles. Since this template also deals with Illinois schools I wanted to gauge opinion.

I would like to gather as much opinion as possible on which of the three samples proposed would be best and fit best. I am looking to be thorough and detailed, without cluttering the list. Please take the time to go to the page and review the three samples and vote on the Talk Page which of the three would be best. Please feel free to offer suggestions to improve the lists or any article. Thanks. IlliniGradResearch (talk) 00:30, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Illinois politician articles

It seems to me that Illinois politicians and their staffs have been busy editing articles to present favorable information. I have come across several related to the Illinois Senate, but I'm sure the same thing is going on with House member articles. I will try to do some of it, but it is more than I care to do alone, so perhaps participants at this project may want to take a look at them for neutrality and encyclopedic style. -Rrius (talk) 05:03, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
