Padlocks[edit]

Soulbust, are the padlocks because you want to write the entries for those articles, or for some other purpose? Otherwise I'd like to get started. SSSB (talk) 16:42, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just visually representing that they are locks to be in the top 25. I probably will not add to the commentary for this weeks’s report so definitely feel free to start writing entires. Soulbust (talk) 16:54, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks. SSSB (talk) 16:55, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Page views[edit]

Don't know if this was ever touched on earlier, but back when there was a bot it would generate the pageviews at a certain time if I recall correctly. I don't think we're using a bot now (please correct me if I'm wrong lol) but in that case, how should we go about any page view discrepancies?

I was mistaken in my edit summary as there wasn't a large discrepancy for Pelé, his article's pageview numbers just weren't yet updated to include Saturday's views. However, the flip for Madelyn Cline and Al Nassr FC was accurate so I'm just unsure how we would go about that, or if it's not a big deal really. Soulbust (talk) 07:21, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Igordebraga: forget to ping about this, oops Soulbust (talk) 08:37, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Soulbust: This is why I prefer to only start doing the weekly list once it turns midnight on Sunday and the numbers are final (Toolforge's data possibly closes at 12am, UTC 0 - a good indicator are views on "late" events in the United States, such as the Oscar winners only getting spikes on Monday - even if it only makes the day's numbers available once it's midnight in your timezone). Yes, we had a bot. And another bot. And a third one that didn't appear much - if only it did, to take some of the workload off us. igordebraga 02:09, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Igordebraga: I don't know if it closes at any specific time... it seems to be just showing the daily pageviews from 00:00 to 23:59 for any given time zone that somebody accesses the data from. In any case, I figure it'd be smart to list an article's pageviews through the UTC 0 parameters. Soulbust (talk) 06:43, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I do get your point about the late events getting spikes on Monday in U.S. time zones, so that's definitely a strong possibility. But yes, I think going off UTC 0 as long as we do not have a bot for this would make the most sense. Soulbust (talk) 06:45, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
