100k[edit]

Is there any rationale for the 150k cutoff? It seems that a one-day page view of 100,000 hits is commendable. There were two articles in June (Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress with 108.6k and Jack the Ripper with 138.5k) and Earth with 106.4k from April that could be included in this list. Separate tiers could be created for 300k and above, 200ks, and 100ks to still distinguish those article that do get several hundred thousand views. --Happy editing! I say that we should keep this to just 150k viewed articles. I think that more articles will achieve the goal eventually. I mean, If Emma Watson, Battlefield Earth (film) and Cannibal Holocaust made it passed 150k, why not some other FA? GamerPro64 (talk) 20:05, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds fair to allow for consensus. I left the message a month ago, and since nobody replied I went through each article over the last three years to include the current thirteen additions. Having 365 articles featured a year (not sure when we had the last leap year, but there's another article), and over two and a half years (of trackable statistics), that's nearly a thousand articles. Just over one percent in that time period had 100k views. 150k seems like it was selected arbitrarily, and although 100k is the same, it invites just a few more articles. I figure the goal of the page is to find out what topics are getting the most views and see if there is any relation to the date that is selected. If this page were to have issues with excessive additions in the future, then a separate page could be started for the lower views. I have no issues with maintaining it, but likely would only be checking once a month for all of the articles for the month to spot any possible additions. Of course, no worries if others are interested in checking more frequently. Does anyone have a rationale for not lowering the bar (well, still impressive bar) to 100k? --Happy editing!
