Where to show these templates[edit]

I removed the templates themselves from this page, because I think they were causing too much confusion among newer (and not that new) users. Wikipedia:template messages is the defacto standard place for "newer" users to look, to learn what templates are available. From there, they naturally arrive at this page and were led to believe that deleting a page/category/whatever was just a matter of adding the appropriate tag from the chart. The templates themselves provide links to the instructions, but these links are very small and de-emphasized. It is much better to list the deletion templates only on the pages that give the instructions on how to use them, or at least not to list the templates here where users are likely to encounter them and have no clue that there is more to it than the template.--Srleffler 02:24, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion notifications[edit]

We currently have (some) deletion notification messages both at Wikipedia:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace#Deletion_notifications and here at Wikipedia:Template messages/Deletion. We should concentrate in one place, IMHO, but I'm agnostic as to where. Any suggestions? Please comment on the other page's talk page. Sandstein 06:20, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oops[edit]

I accidently put this page up for speedy deletion... Reverted obviously, but thought I should say something. GofG ||| Contribs 21:38, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It has happened again with Template:hangon--Henrygb 00:32, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest adding mention of Template:prod-2 to this list -- its existence appears to be a little known secret. For that matter, it looks like there are other PROD templates from Category: Prod-related templates that should be here as well.

I suggest also adding mention of this template at

Subpages[edit]

These template message lists are getting too long. They should be split up into even more subpages. See Wikipedia_talk:Template_messages#subpages for main discussion -Eep² 16:04, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Icon needed on AfD notifications?[edit]

I noticed there's no icon on Template:AFDWarning, Template:Adw or Template:AFDNote. It might not be strictly necessary, but I would like to add this icon , which I created for just this purpose. Would this be ok? --carelesshx talk 16:37, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The icon has been added to all of the referenced templates ... see message below. Happy Editing! — 72.75.78.69 (talk · contribs) 15:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nuvola image vs. "flat" image[edit]

Some templates use Image:Circle-style-warning.svg, while others use Image:Nuvola apps important.svg... Is there any reason for this? If not, they might be changed to the Nuvola one. — SheeEttin {T/C} 20:49, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposition of new speedy template[edit]

Could we possibly create a new {{db}} template for articles that couldn't possibly be verified, reliably sourced or have other flaws. By this I mean I'm proposing a template named {{Db-OR}} for as said, articles that are most probably, or even completely, examplary of original research. Also, I would like to address any concerns to this proposition, as it is most likely I will be told to use the {{Db-reason}} template, but I don't find this really suitable as it IMO that it should be set in stone, and a link provided to the original resarch policy, which should be incorporated into text that is defining of Wikipedia's policy on OR. Template:Oldprodfull[edit]

Hello, fellow editors ... I would like to add {{Oldprodfull}} to the Deletion tools section, but I am confused by the formatting ... if you agree that it should be in the table, would someone please add it? Happy Editing! — 72.75.78.69 (talk · contribs) 18:03, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My thanks to User:MBisanz for adding the template. :-) Happy Editing! — 72.75.78.69 (talk) 15:07, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PROD Template[edit]

Why is the {{subst:prod|reason}}, template not on this page? SpinningSpark 17:07, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CSD Portal[edit]

I just noticed that this page is showing up as an article for deletion simply because the template is used as a reference in the article. I've never noticed it there before so I'm thinking that something may have recently changed. I'm not worried that an admin would delete the page but getting the page off the list of articles up for speedy deletion would be nice. If not, no big deal I guess. OlYellerTalktome 01:54, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I noticed that too. I left a message at Template talk:Db-meta#Category suppression asking for help. --Funandtrvl (talk) 17:30, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Like many if not most template pages on Wikipedia, this template page is jargon-heavy[edit]

Indeed, this page is so jargon-ridden as to be incomprehensible to casual editors who, it is my understanding, Wikipedia wishes to feel as welcome as more serious editors.QuintBy (talk) 22:06, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

True, but this template in particular is not aimed at novice editors. This is either a reminder to experienced editors who may not have memorized all the possible templates in the area and there uses, or a guide for somewhat more than casual editors seeking to become more involved in deletion processes. A novice or casual editor should probably not be doing the kind of things mot of these templates are for. Someone wanting to enter these waters needs to learn the jargon. This page is appearing in deletion categories[edit]

This page is appearing in several temporary deletion categories for some reason. -- John Reaves 19:29, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page SHOULD be speedily deleted because...I used the wrong email. I didn't actually want to join, but was trying to edit something I felt was wrong and fucked the whole thing up. Please please please. If I log myself out I'll never be able to access it again because I don't know my password and again I used the wrong email, an email that isn't mine. Please delete this account so I can create one I can actually log into--Calloutpeople (talk) 21:31, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
