In response to question #3, Sherurcij mentions that some people think responses like "Michael Moore is fat" or "George W. Bush is a Nazi" are valid ways of ending a discussion, apparently of either. This prompts an interesting question in my mind... Michael Moore is fat. In fact, according to the CDC, he's morbidly obese. George W. Bush, on the other hand, is not, nor has he ever been, associated with Nazis... So the "interesting question" in my mind is, what prompted these two "examples", and are you (Sherurcij) able to discern the difference between them [putting aside for the moment the context in which you mentioned them]? - Is there a difference between the two statements, obviously. Do either of them belong on the talk page for September 11th, of course not. What prompted the two examples is that it's simply a random example, one from each the "left-wing" and the "right-wing" of absolutely illogical rebuttals to the other side's points. Disagreement on an intellectual level is a wonderful thing, Noam Chomsky and Michael Coren present two very different views of today's world, yet I respect both of them for being able to present their views in an intelligent, logical fashion - and when I disagree with either of them, it's on a respectful level where I can understand their point, but feel that my own outweighs. On the other hand, Michael Moore and Pat Robertson (to grab a leftwing/rightwing extreme of each) rarely contribute to intelligent discussion or debate, and probably end up doing more harm than good through their attempts to polarize their listeners into assuming the other side is "evil", and they are "good".
