What's the point? WP:UBX[edit]

What is the point of this? We already have them all listed at Wikipedia:Userboxes (as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Userboxes). --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 04:44, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I just saw the automatic list bit.
That's cool.
But surely once sorted this should all just be merged into WP:UBX? --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 04:46, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well, in theory it will be, the idea is to see all userboxes. Maybe we could sort though and see if all are listed? If that is done in theory is can go. But whenever it is updated, more loose userboxes could be found, so I think it has some benifit. Ian13ID:540053 17:13, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I dont think that all of these are listed on the other page. I found some on this page that are not listed on the other. Perhaps the pages could be merged. Or, any non repeated on this page could be put into an "other" category for boxes listed on the other page. Id hate to lose this reference to these boxes by just deleting this page. DanielZimmerman 23:47, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For example, the Baltimore Orioles userbox listed in this article is not included on WP:UBX. DanielZimmerman 23:49, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User_ubx-4[edit]

Someone needs to fix Category:User ubx-4, I think this page would get more traffic so I posted it here. There's a bit of extra text which results from wrong language codes or links or something. Not my area of expertise so can someone look at this? Thanks. SandBoxer 20:06, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Uppercase[edit]

for i in {a..z} does not list all the boxes. Some start with uppercase letters (User AI, User UN, User Futurama) TCorp 23:25, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I did it realy fast. The problem is that the prefix index special page is buggy, so it would only show userbox template up to "user c*" if search for "user ". AzaToth 23:35, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I meant the list made using the shell-script. The shell-script should be changed to include uppercase names. TCorp 00:34, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I updated it last. And I managed to do a seperate 0..9 and add it in, but I should have done capaitals too, good note! Ian13ID:540053 17:14, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Newbie Friendlyness and Utility[edit]

As a new Wikipedia user, I find this list to be extremely unhelpful. Frankly, a long list of linked articles does not help. What I need are boxes in front of me and what I need to input to create them. This page needs a complete overhaul, or to be started over from scratch.

If a better option exists, this article should be deleted. --Tssha 12:20, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This list is at the moment more a help in ongoing cleanup. This because the prefix index is broken so you can't directly search for all templates of userboxes. It was also ment to be a list of all userboxes grouped in their categories, but that has been removed. AzaToth 13:01, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:Userboxes is what you want. This is just a self-reference to us more than anything. Ian13ID:540053 17:15, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Broken[edit]

Whatever method is used to generate this doesn't understand UTF-8. Thus, it corrupts Template:User bodhrán into Template:User_bodhrán and so on. Bo Lindbergh 05:49, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A Question[edit]

Can you send userboxes to a Wikia site such as Wookiepedia? Ric36 18:37, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MfD Result Notice[edit]

This page was the subject of an MfD discussion closed on 16 June 2006. The result was Keep. Xoloz 15:27, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since this was kept, is there any way to get it updated? —Mira 02:55, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am trying to make contact with a dev who I believe is working on it. Ian¹³/t 09:17, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • If you do update it, it would be really nice to scan for those userboxes that have migrated to userspace as well. Most of them have the word "user" in them, so they should still be easy to find ... maybe ... --M@rēino 20:32, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it becomes near impossible due to database structure and recognising it, but I can try. I can't find the person at present though :| It seems Robchurch has left Wikipedia - well that stuffed my hope of updating then... Ian¹³/t 19:49, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update![edit]

With the very kind assistance of Interiot, I updated the page today. The new version is however 68 days old (since en doesn't update often on the toolserver). If anyone wants it to be more accurate, they are welcome to download their own copy of the db and run the query supplied on the page itself. Good luck! Ian¹³/t 15:31, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
