I'd be interested in attending if I can. I live about 200km away. Keep me posted! Walkerma (talk) 20:52, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed location:[edit]

  • Proposed (sugested) location: "Buffet La Stanza" in a small stripmall at the NW quadrant of the intersection of Marcel-Laurin and Côte-Vertu. Take the Line 2 Orange (Montreal Metro) to the end (Côte-Vertu) and take bus #121 west to the corner mentioned. Any comments?? Peter Horn 02:04, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Location discussion[edit]

I agree with the proposal that the location could be moved closer downtown. Any discussion? The collective will will decide, I think, in the end... Msanford (talk) 20:38, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, considering the amount of traffic one can find in downtown at certain hours, keeping the meeting location in Montreal but outside downtown would seem like a good idea to me. I'd agree with the La Stanza in St-Laurent.--Ramdrake (talk) 20:42, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There's certainly no decision that will satisfy everyone. For editors like me who live in central Montreal and don't own cars, "traffic" is not a problem. But I know many editors don't live in the city core and will arrive by car. So we'll see, I guess. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 21:31, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just wanted to propose the idea; you both make good points. Msanford (talk) 23:54, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Route Name Route Map Schedule
121 Sauvé/Côte-Vertu (west bound to Place Vertu) Map Schedule
171 Henri-Bourassa (west bound to Place Vertu & Sears) Map Schedule
215 Henri-Bourassa (to/from Bois-Franc train station & Fairview Pointe-Claire, for those coming in from the West Island) Map Schedule

(Thank heaven for "copy and paste" from Terminus Côte-Vertu (AMT)#Connecting bus routes) For those that drive in, there should be plenty of parking on the mall's lot. Remember that parking meters downtown will ding you until 21:00 (9:00 PM for those unfamiliar with the 24 hr. clock) even on a Saturday evening, and parking lots are not quite gratis either! I have eaten fairly often at La Stanza in Laval (corner Des Laurentdes and Saint-Martin) and this one should be just as good. Peter Horn 01:32, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Those who might be driving in from points west, take the Côte-Vertu east exit of Quebec Autoroute 40 and drive east on Côte-Vertu Boulevard to that intersection. Those that come from points south, take Quebec Autoroute 15 north and exit at Marcel-Lauren (Quebec Route 117) then take M-L north to the corner of Côte-Vertu Boul. Those driving in from points east on the A-40, take the Marcel-Lauren exit, etc. those driving in from points north on the A-15, take the Côte-Vertu west exit or if one drives in on the Quebec Autoroute 13, take the Côte-Vertu east exit or take the A-40 east exit and then the Côte-Vertu exit. Myself, I'll take STL #151 to the terminus and then take the first one leaving of the three STM buses east. Peter Horn 14:36, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Time?[edit]

At what time will we be meeting there? Also, may I bring my aunt since I'm a minor and need chaperoning?---¤÷(`[¤*M*¤]´)÷¤- 01:45, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you can bring your aunt. The meeting is for dinner, not exact time has been said yet, I'd say around noon, but it could also be a little later. Pro bug catcher (talkcontribs). 02:46, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The establishment is not restricted to adults only, it is a family restaurant. So bring your aunt, but it is not mandatory, just don't order anything stronger than soft drinks or coffee. Peter Horn 20:27, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dinner or lunch? Don't want to be specious, but where I come from, dinner is usually the evening meal (or did you mean "dîner"?)--Ramdrake (talk) 13:28, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, lunch/dîner is what I meant... I forgot how these kind of terms can be confusing. (See dinner. Pro bug catcher (talkcontribs). 13:40, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, how much would it cost?---¤÷(`[¤*M*¤]´)÷¤- 22:25, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Still, no one has answered the question related to cost.--67.68.4.7 (talk) 19:20, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea. This site says "Avg. Entree: $10-15" [1]. Pro bug catcher (talkcontribs). 23:24, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I propose 11 am to 2 pm. --Henrickson User talk | Contribs 19:34, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Around noon would be fine Peter Horn 20:07, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
12 pm to 3-4 pm then? :D Let's all meet outside from 11:30 to 12. (Though 40% chance of rain has been predicted) --Henrickson User talk | Contribs 21:19, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The buffet would cost about $15.00 Peter Horn 20:14, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Next time[edit]

  • We'll keep this page open for next time, say 6 month from now. This time three members, including myself, showed up. Peter Horn 21:37, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Even though I wasn't there, I want to thank you for all your efforts in making this happen. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 22:32, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
      • Ditto. I wanted to apologise for not canceling - I signed up ages ago, and in the end couldn't go, but forgot to report that here. It's a long trip for me, but I'd like to come if it's on a suitable date. I'd like to have talked about boat with you, Peter! Thanks again, Walkerma (talk) 03:44, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice meeting you and Pro bug catcher. =) Me and Pro bug catcher waited outside till 12:45 pm, then booked a table for 4, in case there were 1-2 more people still coming. Peter showed up after I finished my 2nd plate. After the Wikimeet, I went around town and took some pictures. Expect 2-3 articles to have new photos! --Henrickson User talk | Contribs 00:32, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
