Venues and arrangements for the Wikipedia Takes Joondalup event on 26 November 2011 are:

Local History Library[edit]

The Local History Library is part of the Joondalup Library complex on Boas Avenue, Joondalup. [1]

To get to the meeting place itself, enter the library via the foyer (upstairs from the bus stop and carpark). Turn left once inside, and head to the end through the glass door, and downstairs. The Local History Library is nearby.

Getting there[edit]

  • Driving - For those travelling from outside the area, the quickest access is via Mitchell Freeway. Exit at Shenton Avenue and turn right. Turn right at Grand Boulevard, then second left onto Boas Avenue. The library is two blocks up on the right.
  • Public transport: Note: The Joondalup CAT does not run on Saturdays. The 466 bus leaves Joondalup Station at 9:57 and at 10:57, journey time is about 3 minutes - Andrew will be on site for the arrival of the first bus (See bottom for contact details).

During the day[edit]

Locations are scattered throughout the northern end of the City of Joondalup and the Joondalup CBD. Buses are available from Joondalup Station to many of the locations (Routes 460-466, 468 and some others), but operate on a weekend timetable. Timetables and a printed map will be made available at the Local History Library before the event for all participants.

Families are welcome to attend - at previous events, several children took photographs which ended up on Wikipedia articles, and we encourage this. Real names are recommended but not required for attribution purposes, please advise organisers if you do not wish to use your real name when providing your pictures for upload.

Please note that you are responsible for your own safety - the event organisers advise against taking undue risks, as well as entering private property or photographing people without their permission. Information will be provided to participants.

Neil Hawkins Park[edit]

For our social event afterwards, we will head to Neil Hawkins Park, two blocks east of the Library, where barbecues are located. Some light refreshments and soft drinks will be provided - the event is otherwise BYO. Parking is available there as well. Buses return to Joondalup Station from the Library at :35 past the hour, with the last one leaving at 6:35.

For those bringing children, the Wanneroo Show is running across the lake from Joondalup all day, finishing at 10pm. There is a fireworks display at 9:15pm.

RSVP[edit]

In order that numbers at the event can be planned for, please RSVP to Andrew if you can (Special:Emailuser/Orderinchaos (orderinchaos78 at gmail.com) or to 0411 77 0411) prior to Thursday 24 November 2011.
