This is a 1-credit first year course as a part of a Just Communities course cluster at Georgetown. We will cover a history of race and gender based medical discrimination in conjunction with cultural constructions of race and gender, as a ground for understanding contemporary health inequities, particularly as seen with the current pandemic. I'd like for us to contribute content to COVID related articles (US based) that reflect disparities along specifically racialized lines. I understand this is a likely potentially controversial topic, but an important one to contribute to for the cause of information and representation equity as a form of justice-oriented work.

Evaluation exercise launches an external window (How to Edit also does this). Follow the link in the training module to do the exercise and we will be able to see them in the Dashboard (I am pretty sure of this, at least). Use these for evaluation exercise, unless you have something else you're dying to evaluate.

- Assignment - Email Professors with your interest areas
In a short email to Prof. Danylevich (td87
georgetown.edu) and Prof. Day (daycrgeorgetown.edu) share with us where your interest areas lie in relation to the this project: What do you want to know more about? What do you feel it's important to add to the information already out there?
Refer to the articles we have noted above (linked in the "Evaluation" exercise module"), or in relation to others you have come across, that you think we should consider including in our work together.
While we will do our best to group everyone according to interest, there will be some variety in intersts, inevitably. However, this is not a disadvantage as in this type of group project it usually works well as semi-independent work: Usually, each group member focuses on a sub-area, related to the other group members' sub-areas of the focus area.

Everyone has begun PLANNING, researching, and making notes towards writing their article drafts. This will happen at first in the Collaboration google-docs so that we don't run into problems with multiple users in sandboxes over-writing work.
You will move your work to a group sandbox after peer reviews.
However, you may start collecting sources in your sandboxes, and practicing making headers and subheaders. The citation tool means you don't have to worry about formatting citations, but you do still need to practice using it as it can have its idiosyncracies.

- OUTLINE - Make sure you flag sections of the group googledoc so that it can generate a clickable outline for ease of navigation -- each “section” will be each person’s space for drafting contributions.
- SOURCES - Have your sources in order in the googledoc, in each corresponding contributor section.
- SANDBOX - Have sources copied into the sandbox as a references section.
- Assignment - "Works Cited"/References Section
You have added all of your sources to the target sandbox that you'll be using. You've figured out (hopefully) how to make these show up correctly! :-D

In your group googledocs your content is ready for peer review. You have also created/tested your sandbox by this day, and will come prepared with any questions.
Your "Works Cited" will be in your sandbox, however for the purposes of the peer review the sources need to be clickable or recognizable in the googledoc still and also you need to have markers for where your superscript for source tracking (endnotes!) will be throughout your written draft.
Peer review assignments will be received today.

Guiding frameworkPLEASE NOTE that we are doing peer reviews in googledocs -- so, you really just want to get the guiding questions from this guiding framework and use them to shape your feedback for your peers. You'll use "suggest" mode in googledocs to make your comments and suggestions and ask your questions. You will also paste overall comments/suggestions at the bottom of the contribution you're reviewing. YOU WILL ALSO take stock of how this fits into their group's contributions and visit the "source/target" article to conceptualize/assess how this info fits into it, and where it will go.

You probably have some feedback from other students and possibly other Wikipedians (not yet Wikipedians if you're in googledocs though). Consider their suggestions, decide whether it makes your work more accurate and complete, and edit your draft to make those changes.
In class we can discuss the feedback that you got, and any questions that arise.

Your materials should be in your dedicated sandbox by class time, at the latest, on 11/20.
I'm re-adding some training modules as refreshers!
- Focus on the Drafting as a Group one!
- The others I've dropped in in case you need refreshers on any of this.
- Assignment - Revise the lead, continue editing, play with media files and images.
You may do more research and find missing information. Also check to see if you have media/images that are appropriate to add.
- Make sure you re-read the lead of your "target" article and jot some ideas down as to what should be added to reflect your changes --- we'll re-work the lead together in class. Check in with the overall organization of your target article to see that it is logical -- suggest possible changes there, as well. You'll post these thoughts to the wiki discussion board by 9am EST on Friday.
IN CLASS: I'll share my screen and we'll go group by group; then everyone can paste the revised lead and/or organization in their sandboxes.
