This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Virginia. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Virginia|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- Note that there are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove links to other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Virginia.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to US.

I have made mistakes with AfD regarding academics before, and I do apologise if I'm wrong for this. After searching Google though, this article is the first thing to come up, and other sources that may be about him (not the Australian one, for which there are a few obituaries) are personal blogs or thing by him. -- NotCharizard 🗨 07:43, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

- Keep. I did some digging and found that he has won several awards for his work in knowledge services, a branch of library science. I added these to the page. Satisfies WP:NPROF. Qflib (talk) 23:49, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- Strong Keep -- received the highest award (the "John Cotton Dana Award" of the Special_Libraries_Association) in librarianship from an organization that is over 100 years old, with 75 national and 55 regional chapters. I'll add the link to the organization's homepage, because the nominator was right to notice that the only current reference for the award is from a publicity blog post by his employer. With the award verified, this is a definite keep. -- Michael Scott Asato Cuthbert (talk) 01:11, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

Reviewed during NPP. No evidence of wp:notability under GNG or SNG. None of the sources even half meets corporate GNG criteria. The article reads like a self-written PR piece and the sources are just pieced together announcements, events and some self-written items. North8000 (talk) 15:56, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

- Delete. The PROMO actually doesn't seem too bad compared to some of the others, but there's no eligible sourcing. It's not really surprising the article would end up sounding like a press release if that's all that's available. (well, there's some short mention in WP:TRADES but doesn't seem like full articles even there) Alpha3031 (t • c) 14:08, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

- There is some sourcing which I have added, all from the 1994–98 period. They were on local cable and got coverage from that. Once Cox dropped them, they really drop off in local coverage. I could go either way. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 04:31, 22 April 2024 (UTC)

- Keep, The new sources seem to be enough to say that it at the very least was notable enough in it’s early history to justify keeping it, but due to it being from a very specific point, I’m have to keep it at semi-weak. Danubeball (talk) 20:17, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- After thinking about it, I decided to say that this station probably does have the coverage to continue being on Wikipedia. Danubeball (talk) 01:54, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

- Keep: The coverage from the 1990s added by Sammi meets the WP:GNG. Let'srun (talk) 13:24, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
- Delete fails GNG, nothing in the article or found in BEFORE shows anything meeting WP:SIRS. BEFORE found promo, ads, listings, nothing meeting WP:SIRS addressing the subject directly and indepth.
