Playoffs News by Shruti14 The Mavs lose the second game of the First Round of the Playoffs against the Hornets on April 22, 2008 with a final score of 127-103. The Mavs win the third game of the First Round of the Playoffs against the Hornets on April 25, 2008 with a final score of 97-87. The Mavs lose the fourth game of the First Round of the Playoffs against the Hornets on April 27, 2008 with a final score of 97-84. The Mavs lose the fifth game of the First Round of the Playoffs against the Hornets on April 29, 2008 with a final score of 99-94 and are eliminated from any further play in the 2008 NBA Playoffs. Olympics Update On June 23, 2008, Jason Kidd was named to the United States national basketball team will represent America in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Kidd previously played for the team in the 2000 Summer Olympics, where the team claimed a gold medal. Dirk Nowitzki will play for the Germany national basketball team and represent Germany in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Draft News The Mavs draft Shan Foster, from Vanderbilt University, as the 51st overall pick in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft	Team News by Shruti14 Avery Johnson is dismissed as head coach of the Mavs on April 30, 2008. The search begins for a new head coach. Rick Carlisle is the first to be interviewed for the open position of head coach of the Mavs. Rick Carlisle signs a 4-year contract with the Mavs to become the new head coach on May 10, 2008.
