The Idol stars self-proclaimed sleazeball The Weeknd as Tedros, a semi-convincing cult leader, alongside famed nepo baby Lily-Rose Depp (pictured) as Jocelyn, the aforementioned pop star in the aforementioned cult. It premiered last week, with its second episode released this week, and what it lacks for in positive reviews or common decency, it makes up for in controversy and viewership (well, kind of), hence its taking of the top spot on this week's list. If you've missed out on the show's whirlwind first two episodes, like a certain writer here who may or may not be writing this very entry, then you can instead treat yourself to the many memes spawned by the show's uncomfortable sex scenes and The Weeknd's passing resemblance to celebrity stylist Law Roach, which are far easier to stomach.

4	Adipurush	1,691,430	A Bollywood epic based on the Ramayana, starring Prabhas as Raghava, Adipurush got negative reviews but has been picking the crore, nearly making back its massive budget (the only Indian movie to cost more was RRR) in just one week.
5	The Flash (film)	1,574,871	Flash! Aaaaaah! The Scarlet Speedster from DC Comics got his own feature film, one of the last in the DC Extended Universe before it folds over into the DC Universe, and indeed the movie can count as an adaptation of "reboot event comic" Flashpoint in which Barry Allen screws up with time and causes massive shifts to the world. Entertaining in a way that's easier to forget the horrible things star Ezra Miller has done, with highlights including the glorious return of Michael Keaton's Batman and some multiverse-related fanservice, The Flash got positive reviews and hopefully can earn more than Black Adam with its similar $139 million opening, no matter if it might not be one of the summer's biggest movies.
6	Nikola Jokić	1,239,609	The Serbian basketballer known as "Joker" cemented himself as one of the NBA's alpha dogs, as just one year removed from two straight NBA Most Valuable Player Awards, he led the oft-underperforming Denver Nuggets to their first title in the 2023 NBA Finals, beating the Miami Heat with averages of 30.2 points, 14 rebounds and 7.2 assists that made him be chosen as Finals MVP.
7	Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse	1,226,927	The sequel to Into the Spider-Verse (#23) goes from six Spider-People (not counting the one who dies in the first scenes) to just about all of them, including Spider-Punk, Scarlet Spider, and a Lego Spidey. Reviewers and audiences alike were impressed, and Across the Spider-Verse should soon become the highest-grossing movie by studio Sony Pictures Animation (only Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and The Smurfs left to surpass!).
8	Ted Kaczynski	1,395,884	Once a mathematics prodigy who decided to live a simple life in a cabin in Montana, he decided to "get back at the system" sending 16 bombs across 17 years to universities and an airline, leading to the name "Unabomber", before his 1996 arrest helped by a long anti-technology manifesto making Kaczynski's brother identify him. He died on June 10 at 81 in prison, a possible suicide.
9	Juneteenth	1,070,811	One week before it actually happened on the 19th, people were already seeking information about the holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
10	Arnold Schwarzenegger	1,047,864	Along with FUBAR, Netflix released Arnold, a docuseries taking a look at the impressive life story of its star, who managed to go from a poor boy in Austria to a bodybuilding champion, the highest-paid movie star in the world and governor of California. A conspicuous absence is his ex-wife Maria Shriver, who probably does not want to recall something that, like Arnie's autobiography, the series pushes as close to the end as possible, how he had an affair with the housekeeper and fathered a son with her.

12	Fast X	901,735	As put by Honest Trailers, "Gear up for a back-to-basics Fast film: cars, cakes, and killing Brazilians -- or really, anyone who speaks Portuguese -- with everything you want from a Fast and/or Furious movie... except for an ending."
13	Novak Djokovic	879,891	Already the most victorious player in Grand Slams, the Serbian tennis player won his third French Open defeating Casper Ruud in the final.
14	Silvio Berlusconi	875,871	Billionaire who served as prime minister of Italy three different times in years spanning 1994 to 2011. Berlusconi first rose within the Italian financial elite in the 1960s, becoming the controlling shareholder of Italy's largest commercial broadcaster Mediaset and owned the Italian football club AC Milan from 1986 to 2017. He was a controversial political figure, known for having a populist political style and a brash personality. Berlusconi was convicted of tax fraud in 2013, and spent his sentence by doing unpaid community service. He was recently re-elected to the Senate after winning a seat in the 2022 Italian general election, before he died on 12 June, aged 86, and was given the honor of a state funeral two days later.
15	Transformers: Rise of the Beasts	748,370	One-upping the vehicles of #12 are cars that are actually alien robots, in their seventh big screen outing.
16	The Little Mermaid (2023 film)	692,028	Hollywood is making this year like 1989 (a year both this writer and Taylor Swift hold dear), as there's already Disney adapting "The Little Mermaid" and Michael Keaton as Batman (#5), and soon there'll be more Indiana Jones and Ghostbusters.
17	Glenda Jackson	560,522	Known as one of the few performers to achieve the American Triple Crown of Acting, Jackson started acting in 1957, abandoning this career in 1992 to pursue a career in politics. She served as a British MP for the Labour Party till 2015. She died this week at age 87.
18	Extraction 2	548,273	Extraction, one of those many Netflix original action movies that people barely remember, got a sequel 3 years later bringing back Chris Hemsworth as a mercenary, and it somehow got positive remarks deeming it a vast improvement.
19	Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3	537,950	Last week it seemed the trilogy closer for both Star-Lord's team and James Gunn's tenure at the Marvel Cinematic Universe (he's bound for the Distinguished Competition and will head the franchise that will follow #5, including writing and directing a new Superman movie) would not survive for one more list, but here they are. Don't know if it has much of a chance for the next, where the latest MCU release is a shoo-in.
20	Cormac McCarthy	512,135	Regarded by many as one of the greatest American writers, McCarthy died this week, aged 89. Known for his unique style of writing, McCarthy's work was wrote in the post-apocalyptic and the Western genres of fiction, and spanned almost six decades.
21	Robert F. Kennedy Jr.	499,383	This guy's father was a senator and his uncle president, and RFKJ announced he's in the running to be the Democrats' presidential candidate next year (though spreading nonsense during the pandemic might hurt his case).
22	List of Black Mirror episodes	490,541	Netflix released series 6 of Charlie Brooker's anthology on how technology can go wrong, and thus the ones responsible for making it a Good Topic here will be busy in the next few months. #3 would've probably inspired an episode if it came out last year, though some thought the season opener with an automatically generated show in a scathing look at Netflix itself was resonant. There was also awful truths emerging making a true crime show, a fairly depressing period piece featuring robot replicas, and two unexpected turns into the supernatural, one still featuring technology where a paparazzi discovers a star going (back to the meaning) back to the meaning of life, and another simply being a period piece involving murder to prevent the apocalypse (a story told better earlier this year).

24	Avatar: The Way of Water	481,257	Disney+ received the third highest-grossing movie ever, making the three-hour runtime slightly more manageable with pausing and/or fast-forwarding.
25	Donald Trump	461,239	Keeping off the article of the show at #22 is this guy, who even if the law is coming for him, wants to go back to the White House.
