He must be having a great time!
He must be having a great time!

I'm a simple man with a simple mind. I hold a simple set of beliefs that I live by. Number one, I believe in America. I believe it exists. My gut tells me I live there. I feel that it extends from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and I strongly believe it has 50 states. And I cannot wait to see how the Washington Post spins that one tomorrow. I believe in democracy. I believe democracy is our greatest export. At least until China figures out a way to stamp it out of plastic for three cents a unit. In fact, Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong, welcome. Your great country makes our Happy Meals possible. I said it's a celebration. I believe the government that governs best is the government that governs least. And by these standards, we have set up a fabulous government in Iraq. I believe in pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps. I believe it is possible -- I saw this guy do it once in Cirque du Soleil. It was magical. (Full article...)

  • Reasons for nomination: April Fools' is coming, and I recently requested Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus for TFA, but was informed that it was going to be used in December 2023 instead. The April-Fools-like idea was that the blurb was just an excerpt from the editorial, so here I am with the same idea and a very unique article. I also vowed to include an overt amount of Wikilinks; keeping it interesting! I'd like to note that most of the Wikilinks are intended to be humorous (like how "the government that governs least" links to the CCP). Are some controversial? Yes. Is it intentional? Extremely; if they weren't we would be dishonoring the memory of this glorious occasion. Additional note: this would be the second run of this article on TFA; it ran once before on 21 November 2006. Thanks everyone!

  • Reproducing this speech to this extent on the main page is honestly probably a copyright violation. Hog Farm Talk 04:15, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose I think this is making fun of someone who many readers might not get the joke (to make you feel old, this event happened 16 years ago and Bush's presidency ended 13ish years ago), perpetuate the myth that Wikipedia has a liberal bias (making fun of a conservative politician) or that we are committing a copyright violation. Thus, I think there are better articles to have for AFD. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Z1720 (talkcontribs) 19:31, February 21, 2023 (UTC)
  • Oppose per all the reasons given above. The links are kinda funny though! (t · c) buidhe 05:47, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Formally registering an oppose here. Besides the copyright concerns, TFA is not a good place for political jokes. Running this with these links would suggest to many readers that Wikipedia is taking a specific political stance. Hog Farm Talk 15:19, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
